💡 Uncomfortable questions are there to erase an investors doubts about investing in your idea/company. 👨💻 Stefan Sollberger is the CFO Swiss Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands (SCCN)and the CEO of Sollberger KMU Treuhand. He has an extensive number of years of experience and expertise as a Partner, advisor, mentor and investor. 🎧 English Translation: " You should be prepared for uncomfortable questions from investors. These are not harassment. Don't forget that at the end of the day, an investor should be willing to invest money in your business. He should not have any doubts about the success of the investment and thus about your company. For this reason, he must make sure that all the questions he has are answered and doubts are removed. Example: I have already experienced an investor ridiculing the market opportunities of a start-up in clear words and thus doubting them. Or that an investor has denied a founder the mindset that he believes is needed to run a company. In another case, an investor found out about a competitor of the presenting start-up and knew that he was launching a new version of a product that was superior to the start-up in terms of essential features - but the founders did not know it. He therefore wanted to know how the founders planned to deal with it. And then I witnessed an investor who used examples to accuse a founder of lacking team spirit while his teammates were also present. Result: Investors also sometimes ask critical or hard questions just to see how founders deal with the pressures that arise from such questions. Writing a $3.7M check to lead the Seed Round for allO was one of the easiest investment decisions I have made in 10 years. Why? From 170 investments in 10 Years, I have learned three things that make a great investment. 1. The best founders are so ambitious and driven that they make you feel slightly uncomfortable. There is a difference between passionate and obsessed. Passion is great but in the words of David Goggins, "what do you tell yourself when the headphones come off". You have to be obsessed. This is your reason for being and nothing will stop you. This is Cancan Liu, Teodor Rupi and Benedikt von Lewinski. 2. The best businesses are built by identifying a segment of an incumbent's customer base that is not their core and is underserved. allO is the best product in the world for ethnic restaurants from $500K-$15M in revenue. It is not a core segment for incumbents, it is all that allO does. Better product, better service. 3. Distribution is a product. Treat it like one. Distribution can never be an afterthought. 70% of Chinese restaurants in Munich are allO customers. How? A verticalised sales approach like no other that is super efficient, has one of the highest close rates I have seen and scales from city to city and country to country. This is a playbook that will win Europe. allO will be a $10BN business and one of Europe's shining stars. Earlier today, Nordic Angels gathered 50 of Sweden’s top corporate leaders at Matbaren, Grand Hotel, to meet and engage with the Nordic ecosystem. It was the first-ever Partner Day Luncheon, where Nordic Angels gave its best efforts to mobilize the business community, providing maximum value and relevant opportunities.
