One more book by Verso on Palestine. The new book by Israel's leading dissident journalist and thinker, Gideon Levy. A vital book about the catastrophe in Gaza, the West Bank and beyond. Here the endorsement by Antony Lowevenstein" "Levy is a rare voice of dissent. A humane and courageous Israeli journalist who weekly documents the moral degradation of colonisation on the Jewish state and its disastrous impact on the Palestinian people. This book represents a compelling collection of his writings at a time when his bravery is more needed than ever." https://lnkd.in/d32CQEAr

#mainstreammedia ceased to be a respectable profession, courtesy of many #antisemite, lazy and unprofessional individuals in their ranks - from reporters to editors, as well as actual #terrorists being employed as stringers. Apparently, the amount of sensational, so-called "unbiased news" generated by the above, and the premium "access" they provide these "news" outlets, helps them accept the continuous breaches of whatever journalistic ethics they may have been exposed to (but clearly never adopted) at some point during their education journey. Basic journalistic processes such as corroborating stories, cross-checking sources (especially as unreliable as Hamas PR) and seeking additional angles of a story are no longer a thing - they might "hurt" the "wow". Sensational stories (even if fabricated) create clicks and ratings. Nothing else matters. #media #terrorism #terrorists #publicsafety
I am ashamed of my profession. I see the gross distortions, wilful blindness and outright lies in the media about Gaza on a daily basis. Journalists show none of the rigour or objectivity that supposedly sets them above the jungle that is social media. Instead, as with this CNN article - 90 Palestinians killed - they faithfully report whatever fantasy Hamas chooses. They know Hamas plays by no rules at all and believes (and admits) there is a religious imperative to tell lies (taqiyya, look it up). They also know that Hamas's lies have been exposed on numerous occasions. But they simply don't care. It's easy to trust big news corporations. But as a journalist who has been in the business for a very long time, I say this. Don't.

If you're going to write an article or substack about what's happening in Syria now: 1. Use nuance - Not all rebels in the offense are HTS. HTS is literally just the tip of the spear. 2. Center Syrian voices, even if these voices are journalists. 3. Listen to all sects. There are many in Syria, it's not just the Sunnis. 4. FACT CHECK. FACT CHECK, FACT CHECK.

On Freedom of Speech, Authenticity and Leadership Blocking the voice of "the other" stems from our inner trauma. When we, individually or collectively, aren't ready to face the truth, we attempt to silence those who speak their truth. Universally, truths don't conflict. My truth, your truth, his and her truth—they don't clash. It's the narratives, beliefs, assumptions, judgments, agendas, and ideologies we build around these truths that distort our ability to speak, act, and live authentically and harmoniously. Our inability to align with our humanity casts shadows on our capacity to embrace both our truth and the truth of others. To live and lead harmoniously, we must cultivate intimacy with ourselves and recognise that these ideologies and agendas are barriers. The problem is never "the other"; it’s the lesson at hand, guiding us toward becoming our true human selves. Being born in human form doesn't automatically make us human. True humanity means aligning with universal, impartial, just, and liberated views and visions, allowing all to be who they are. On this occasion and every day, our inherent responsibility as humans and leaders is to be messengers of freedom, human rights, and justice. Doing so aligns with our true humanness and provides a solid foundation for authentic leadership. Without this alignment, we are merely adding to the burden on our planet, as one's actions in one area reflect one's impact on all of life. Leadership rooted in these principles not only inspires but also creates a world where everyone can thrive. As leaders, our task is to create and protect environments where diverse truths are heard and respected, paving the way for genuine connection and progress. #freedomofspeech #humanrights #authenticity #leadership #coexistence
