Σχετικά με εμάς
iMEdD is a non-profit organization in an effort to enhance transparency, credibility, and independence in journalism, founded in 2018 with the exclusive donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). The creation of the Organisation was prompted by the global crisis in journalism and the growing lack of trust in journalists and the media. Fundamental values like freedom of speech are being challenged on a daily basis through attempts to control and manipulate the media, the latter being also plagued by a lack of independence and sustainability at the expense of the quality and validity of the journalistic output. It is vital that journalists regain the trust of the public, but to do so, they need to be supported in their efforts to provide accurate information that ultimately empowers society. With this in mind, and dedicated to quality journalism, we build a strong community of media professionals, actively encourage partnerships, and foster innovative ventures to reshape media practices. Our dedication extends to creating and facilitating original, impactful journalistic content through diverse initiatives such as our incubator program, co-productions, and the development of our own original stories. Additionally, we organize events and workshops to train our community with the latest tools and practices, drawing insights from experts across various fields within journalism.

“Our pitch was that we were representing a dictator in Africa, and we wanted to delay an election.” Dr. Manisha Ganguly, Visual Forensics Lead & Investigations Correspondent at The Guardian, speaks to iMEdD about two significant investigations that won the #IJ4EU Impact Award. The first involves the covert Israeli group "Team Jorge," which, with the help of 30,000 bots, has so far meddled in over 30 democratic elections. In the second, a team of investigative journalists sought to uncover what happens to the bodies of migrants who die while attempting to cross into Europe. Interview with Dimitris Bounias.

“Legacy newsrooms are shrinking, resources are being slashed, platforms reign supreme, and journalism struggles to engage citizens who’ve either lost trust or are burned out from a seemingly continuous torrent of bad news.” Journalist Dimitris Bounias, head of iMEdD’s Incubator and Ideas zone, shares his thoughts from the back of a conference room where 12 trainee journalists are preparing to complete the “Introduction to Investigative Journalism” program. Last week, Anna - Kynthia Bousdoukou joined global changemakers at the 2024 Obama Foundation #DemocracyForum in Chicago to led an inspiring panel discussion on Pluralism in Action around the World. Centered on the theme of "pluralism in action"— a celebration of diversity as a cornerstone of democracy —the panel highlighted stories of resilience and connection across four continents. From creating safe spaces for dialogue in conflict-ridden regions to empowering young women in Chicago, and training Ugandan journalists to challenge misinformation, these leaders reminded us that pluralism isn’t just an ideal—it’s a practice rooted in connection and action. The panel showcased pluralism not as a passive value but as a dynamic practice that builds trust and bridges divides.
