📢 The National Confederation of Employers of the Republic of Moldova (Confederaţia Naţională a Patronatului din RM - CNPM) and the Foreign Investors Association (Foreign Investors Association in the Republic of Moldova), with support from the Dansk Industri - DI and financing from the New Democracy Fundocracy Fund, organized a new training session for SMEs on the application of ESG principles 🌍 ♻️ and non-financial reporting, held on 5th and 6th of September 2024. The event started with open remarks from Ms. Veronica Arpintin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization. This session brought together 11 women entrepreneurs and leaders, who explored key topics such as: ✅ Introduction to ESG ✅ The importance of ESG implementation for integration into value chains ✅ Practical exercises on establishing Double Materiality ✅ Competitive advantages of ESG implementation ✅ Insights from FIA Moldova members on ESG implementation in large companies ✅ Guidelines for SMEs to adopt ESG principles ✅ Understanding Greenwashing and Greenhushing This training underscores the Republic of Moldova's strong commitment to adopting European sustainability standards, equipping SMEs for integration into the European Union and participation in global value chains. KEPSA PARTICIPATES IN THE ITALY-AFRICA BUSINESS-TO-BUSINESS DIALOGUE ROME Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), represented by the CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki, participated in the Italy-Africa business-to-business dialogue yesterday in Rome, Italy. The dialogue centred on the issues of common interest that concern the economic growth of the continent and collaboration in key sectors for its future with the key issues being: Energy and digital transition, Agro-Industry, Development of the manufacturing industry and Sustainable mobility. During the forum, business representatives from Africa put forward potential opportunities to tap from Italy's technological expertise towards accelerating energy and digital transition. They discussed how the private sector could collaborate in the endeavour by navigating the existing barriers in helping Africa build resilience and adaptation to climate change. 2024 Workshop and Expert Meeting on Statistics for Sustainable Development Goals 🌍 This week, from Tuesday to Thursday, experts from more than 30 countries and many of our partner organizations will gather in Tirana, Albania, to discuss key issues for Statistics for SDGs. 💡 The forward-looking agenda includes discussions on lessons learned from providing Statistics for SDGs, overlapping frameworks and the future of monitoring sustainable development. Happy to be one of the moderators of a hybrid high-level roundtable discussion the Secretariat of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) is organizing in collaboration with Rud Pedersen Public Affairs on 2 October 2024. This roundtable discussion will serve as a pivotal step towards fortifying the partnership between the OACPS and the European Union (EU), particularly in fostering the development of sustainable green value chains. This initiative is aligned with the OACPS-EU #Samoa Agreement, the EU’s comprehensive approach to achieving a #NetZero transition, and the OACPS’ objective of more equitable integration into global green value chains, in particular, by exporting more processed goods and services. The topics we will delve into are #Partnership Frameworks: How to establish robust mechanisms for collaboration between EU and OACPS businesses in the #green economy and agri-food sectors; Green Value Chain Integration: Practical steps for OACPS’ businesses to benefit from the EU’s green transition, focusing on sustainable practices, technologies and support measures and Facilitating Green Investments: Identifying opportunities and challenges in financing the low-carbon economy and the transition to a more sustainable value chain. 🌏 Deepening the ASEAN-France Development Partnership: A Commitment to Sustainable Growth 🌱 🤝 In a recent high-level meeting in Paris, Marie-Hélène Loison - Deputy CEO of AFD - Agence Française de Développement and Dr. Kao Kim Hourn - Secretary-General of The ASEAN Secretariat, reaffirmed their shared commitment to fostering sustainable development in partnership between #ASEAN and #France. The meeting underscored the pivotal role of collaboration in advancing mutual goals fully aligned on ASEAN Secretariat and Member States priorities. ⏩ The discussion highlighted significant ASEAN-France partnership agenda progress in a relatively short span, notably from 2022 to 2024, consistent with AFD - Agence Française de Développement Group's growing activity in Southeast Asia. Projects such as the Air Quality Improvement Support Program (AQIP) and ASEAN Ship Waste Management (SWM), implemented by Expertise France, alongside upcoming initiatives like the Program for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (PEEB) in ASEAN, exemplify the tangible outcomes of this partnership. These endeavors are meticulously aligned with the strategic priorities of ASEAN, reflecting a nuanced understanding of the region's developmental needs. 👩🔬 Beyond project implementation, AFD emphasized its commitment to nurturing enduring partnerships across various sectors.
