We recognise the ongoing debate around Black Friday. For decades, we’ve been dedicated to creating products that stand the test of time. By participating in Black Friday, we aim to make these high-quality, long-lasting items more accessible to those who value thoughtful purchasing decisions. We don’t see this as a call to mindless spending. It’s an opportunity for customers to invest in products designed to last - products they’ll cherish for years to come. Every item we design is built to last, and made with sustainability in mind. Black Friday can align with mindful consumption when done right, and that’s the approach we’re embracing. For us, it’s about creating value, not waste. https://lnkd.in/e74n4UJE #dualit #blackfriday #sustainability #mindfulspending

Resist the temptation to buy crap! 80% OF BLACK FRIDAY PURCHASES ARE THROWN AWAY Conscious Consumerism A growing number of Dutch consumers are prioritizing sustainability. Choosing eco-friendly options, like carbon-neutral delivery, is becoming as important as convenience. However, the greenest choice is to buy less, reducing consumption altogether. At Het Faire Oosten, we do not support crazy consumer events like Black Friday. Instead, we always maintain fair prices that honor both the consumer and the makers. We believe in celebrating mindful shopping and valuing the craftsmanship behind every product. To practice conscious shopping, focus on the eco-friendly R’s: Reuse, Repair, Reduce, Recycle, Rethink, Repurpose. In wealthier countries like the Netherlands, we often have more than we need. By refusing new items, we conserve resources and create less waste. Reflecting before purchasing helps resist marketing traps and promotes a more sustainable lifestyle. This Black Friday, avoid impulsive buys by asking: Do I already own something similar? How often will I use this? How long will it last? Was it made sustainably? Do I truly need it?

Black Friday isn't just a day anymore. It's a weeks-long frenzy of consumerism. And the craziest part? 80% of items purchased on Black Friday are thrown away after a few uses. We don’t just need to rethink what we own. We need to rethink how we consume. Repair, reuse, rent… Go circular! But don't feed the beast. ♻️ Repost for a greener Black Friday! #circulareconomy #blackfriday #climatechange #sustainability

The elephant in the room: Black Friday is a tricky subject for sustainable businesses. Balancing the detrimental impact Black Friday has on our environment, with the understanding that everyone loves a good deal, feels like a 1000 piece puzzle. The current cost of living crisis means that sustainable businesses risk appearing tone-deaf by not offering incentives, at a time when we need to shift consumer behaviour away from over-consumption. We know that skincare should be a considered purchase, products that meet their needs without contributing to waste. Which is why we opt for a more considered approach, a slow-vember. We apply fair prices all year round. Rather than traditional discounts we remind customers of our 'always on' offers and add a festive treat so they can shop for gifts and treat themselves. The festive offer remains in place for a month, not a weekend. This allows consumers to thoughtfully consider their purchases, ensuring they choose products that meet their needs without contributing to waste. Lastly, we try and be creative with our VIPs, the community that interact and support our business all year round. This year we will be selecting one in ten orders from our newsletter subscribers, to giveaway for free. At our size and scale, this is sustainable, and we'd love to see some of the considered approaches you've seen to Black Friday - tag them below! #sustainablebusiness #slowvember #solidskincare #corporategifting

Black Friday is just driving consumerism… Do you really need to buy new stuff because there is a huge discount? 🤑 In most cases it will be forgotten and collect dust or just thrown away… 🗑️ Let’s think before act. 🤔 #sustainability #climatechange

I find this rather strange. All these years business houses looked for ways to promote consumerism. Simple things like shaving blades which should last for ever now barely last a few shaves or tooth paste tube openings were made bigger to dispense more quantity of the paste or milk which used to be sold in glass bottles got replaced with single use plastic bags. You name it and we have been sucked into buying more consuming more and discarding more. Not in very distant past we were repairing, reusing and renting most of our needs. As rightly pointed out by Mr Vojtech, we need to go back to the basics right from the way we do business. Before I buy the new model of cell phone should I be asking do I need to buy or should the Company be thinking do we need to launch a new model? It cuts both ways

Black Friday. To do or not to do? We've wrestled with the question of how to approach this with clients keen to take part and here's the advice we've give them: 1. Don't do it. It's long term commercial suicide for your brand. Even the short term gain is questionable given the depth of discounting expected from consumers, but the long term harm is greater, as it lowers the perceived value of your brand, setting the new lower and ongoing expectation of what one can expect to pay for your product / service. 2. Go Green Friday instead. The macro problem with Black Friday is the incredible amount of waste it creates. It's the ultimate mass/fast consumption exercise and is therefore a sustainability nightmare. Now, you might have stock you actually need to clear, or you might want to do small discounts to help your consumers in an ongoing cost of living crisis, so offset the harm with Green Friday - Eg. 10% off for you, 10% back to the planet. Are you getting involved in Black (or Green) Friday this year? #blackfriday #greenfriday #marketingstrategy #ethicalmarketing
