There is NO SHORTAGE of training programs for #veterans. What we need more of: Training programs that are aligned to ACTUAL EMPLOYMENT *BEFORE* they enroll veterans. This means that EMPLOYERS that offer EMPLOYMENT are critical stakeholders in training development. 📣EMPLOYERS CANNOT BE AN AFTERTHOUGHT.📣 ***** We get TONS of requests like this every week. Nearly all of these training providers seem to genuinely want to "help veterans". Sometimes our hesitancy to do ENROLLMENT MARKETING on their behalf via 50strong is confusing to them. I promise there is a good reason: We hear from frustrated military-affiliated jobseekers all the time that completed various training programs and feel let down at the end. So we want to be careful. (And we are learning everyday.) ***** Curious what are y'all seeing? #VeteranEmployment 💙

Somewhere along the way some #SkillBridge approved orgs forgot, or maybe never knew, what the #SkillBridgeProgram was for. With all of the changes the DoD has, and will be instituting, some companies are getting upset. They feel like some of the changes are not fair. ➡️➡️➡️ The #DoDSkillBridgeProgram was NOT developed to benefit companies. It was developed to benefit #TransitioningServiceMembers ⬅️⬅️⬅️ Companies benefitting from participating in the program is a byproduct, not the focus. 💯 Examples of how the #SkillBridgeProgram is for #ServiceMembers... ✅ If you're upset that more than 50% of #SkillBridge training has to be live or synchronous that's because #ServiceMembers weren't benefitting from a lot of the asynchronous programs. ✅ Upset that the Navy and Marine Corp have a tiered approach to approving how long a service member can participate? The tiered system is in place to ensure each Unit can continue to maintain a certain level of readiness. When 1 service member gets approved to participate in a #SkillBridgeOpportunity their Unit is not backfilled with a replacement service member, and 9 people now have to do the work of 10 people. There are SO MANY ways a company could successfully participate in the #DoDSkillBridge program! If these changes have you worried - let's talk If you think these changes will decrease your company's ability to successfully participate - let's talk Schedule a meeting with me today! There's more than 1 way to be successful in #SkillBridge ‼️ #SkillBridge is a gift to both #TransitioningMilitary AND civilian organizations. If you look at the program through the lens I've just described, I think together we can continue to thrive through the changes, and be successful.

Yesterday, MG @ Miles Brown, COL Vito Errico and COL Jason Zuniga co-hosted Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar at U.S. Army Software Factory. NSIC has supported GEN (R) Mike Murray's vision since 2021 of a new model to train of Soldiers in full-stack software development, insourcing of Army problem sets and instilling agile team problem solving. My take-aways from the meeting: *Front-line talent is more than capable of software development and agile teaming to insource and solve problems. *Army Software Factory doesn't read its own headlines and smartly keeps industry closely engaged in teaching Soldiers the latest skills and approaches. *Placing ASW at Austin Community College means Soldiers can simultaneously earn transferable credits. *After 3 years, consideration should be made to scale ASW under current, distinguished leadership. Domain knowledge and need is there. *Texas State Government has similar, massive tech talent needs which require upskilling its work base. ASW's should be one of several approaches. I feel sad for this poster. They didn’t have a support system in place to help guide them during their transition. They must have heard "you get your time back" and thought they could coast by and still be offered a job. I heard a similar thing while in TAP, so I looked into it. I knew I would be given coursework to help brush up and time to take care of job hunting, VA appointments, and schooling. I could not have been more wrong about AllegiantVets. Tomorrow will mark three weeks in the fellowship, and I am continually blown away by all the resources available to me. Thanks to this program, I have access to an AI resume helper, have spoken to industry recruiters to learn about their processes, been paired up with a veteran mentor in my industry and participated in tele-events that helped me prepare for this transition. Coursera is the CBT program you wish you had in the service. It offers videos explaining concepts and the preparation you need if you want to pursue certification. And have I mentioned how amazing the staff is? During our meet-ups, you can tell that they genuinely care. I’ve heard phrases like "let’s get you connected with X person in Y industry" and "let’s sit down and review Z so you are set up" at every meeting. They make an effort to connect with you, even if you’re on the other side of the planet. Ultimately, it comes down to the work you’re willing to put in. If you attend the mandatory check-in days and just do the required coursework, you’ll get your time back, and that’s it. But if you’re serious about your transition and want more tools and support to become a better candidate, don’t discount this organization.
AllegiantVets Skillbridge Review ⭐️ Rating 1.0 / 5 Review by anonymous: “I wanted to share my experience with the Allegiant Vets SkillBridge program in case anyone is considering it. To be honest, I found it to be a complete waste of time. The program wasn’t difficult or hard, but it also didn’t provide the skills necessary to secure a job after leaving the military. Sure, you get some “time off,” but I don’t think it’s worth it if you’re not gaining valuable skills. If you’re in a SkillBridge, you’re there to gain skills, and this program just doesn’t deliver on that front. You can actually access the same programs through Coursera via ACT or ACT Now, which you can find on Facebook. These are free training programs and certifications, and although they aren’t “SkillBridge,” you can take them on your own time, which I did while transitioning 18 months before getting out…..” See the full review here : https://lnkd.in/dUADptHN 🚨 Make sure to follow us for more reviews! #skillbridge #dodskillbridge #skillbridgeprogram #militarytransition #transitioningmilitary
