Is this you?
(Well actually it is Sarah J Naylor 🌅 The Norfolk Coastal Coach) from our shoot in Norfolk this year, but serves as a perfect example.
Your business is uncertain?
You are considering a pivot to generate more cash?
Just launched a service and don't know which direction it will take you?
Unsure to who your clients are right now?
Many things are unsure....
You are holding off photography because you don't want to launch into something that may not hold true or become your mainstream in the future..
(From a client conversation earlier this week).
Welcome, to the neutral photo shoot!
Crammed full of nothing!
Nothing but you.
And so as YOU are your business, your service, these shots will move in any direction you want to take them!
Morph and dance in a perfectly on-message way!
Because they hold absolutely NOTHING in terms of specific content apart from YOU!
This shoot could suit you right now.
It is a modern take on studio head shots.
Lifestyle surroundings.
A white background, textured using natural light (on a bright cloud day) and also minimal fill in flash from the front to keep you nice and bright but not overly stark.
It's contemporary.
There is very little to 'read' in this frame apart from Sarah.
There is a white washed wall.
You can tell that the stone / brick is older by the rounded shape underneath the paint.
Maybe it's a pub wall or older building and you would be right.
Amazing what we can read from very little visual information!
But we do!
Our brains are amazing!
And a bit of wild foliage to the right behind Sarah, so it could be a country garden?
It's certainly NOT city!
Mainly it is a neutral but it feels contemporary in how we have used it, a modern take.
So a neutral wall frames Sarah perfectly.
Just like a studio head shot against a roll of white paper.
It leaves us to totally focus on Sarah and what she has to say.
What's on her agenda.
She is totally showcased here.
So pivot?
A shoot like this allows you to use this kind of natural background for literally any kind of content.
Just be aware that the background IS still readable, suits a business in a countryside town or working from home.
IF you are based in a city?
Not for you.
But,
Marble buildings used in the same way where the connotations 'say' urban city.
Sandstone? Etc.
So how to use?
We make tons of variations of these, different neutral backgrounds.
And many, many expressions and outfits, so that you can match the expression with your content for any post about anything!
NB, your expression should suit the MAJORITY tone of your content.
If you are writing a powerful informative piece, don't use a smile shot, it will take your power. Chose a straighter face with a direct gaze.
Writing something fluid, happy and upbeat, pick a shot with a gaze that is higher (we look up for inspiration).
Expressions, we go through afterwards so you then have a plan.
To keep you fluid and SEEN at a HIGH LEVEL during challenging trading times.
