Every year, the MetCareers initiative celebrates the incredible career growth stories across our diverse business, while sharing resources and opportunities that empower our people to learn, develop, and grow. Today, we’re thrilled to share the reimagined initiative, specifically for our frontline team members! Over the coming months, teams on our front lines will participate in a project that’s set to inspire and energise their Metcash careers.
Plus, we’ll be bringing some of the initiative to our socials, so you too can hear some of the incredible frontline career stories across Metcash.
We’re kicking things off with the first video featuring Tahliah Murray and Paul 'Macca' Maciejowski from Hudson Mitre 10, part of our hardware pillar. Hudson Mitre 10 is a group of stores in NSW, including retail outlets and trade centres, and it’s where Tahliah and Macca’s remarkable career progressions have unfolded.

My name is Talia. I'm a commercial trade estimator for Hudson Mitre 10. I'm Macca and I'm the regional operation manager for Hudson Trade Centre. Might attend. Started my career with Hudson Mitre 10 back in 2014, working at point of Sale, helping customers. But it didn't take long for me to get curious about the Trade Centre, so I made the switch to the trade desk and that's when I knew I found my thing. I started in the company in 2012. I originally started in the yard and from then I've literally done it all. I've worked. As a forklift driver, sales assistant Rep, support assistant manager, manager and today I'm the Sydney ACT regional Operations manager, One of the things I love about Hudson might attend is how much the leaders want to see you grow. About 18 months ago, one of them encouraged me to go for a brand new role as a commercial trade estimator. It's been such a rewarding space to be in and I love getting to work directly with our customers and helping them bring their projects to life. But it doesn't stop there. As well as the quotes. To work on tenders, orders and delivery to sites. I'm so grateful to be working with seasoned pros in the industry. As a Regional Operations Manager, I support a network of stores on all key priorities which include safety, financial, people and promotions. It's a really varied role and that's what I love about it. Each day I show up and have a plan, but I have to adapt to what's in front of me, so I'm constantly learning and growing. Seeing the impact we have on each store each day, that's what drives me, the part I love most. About working for Mitre 10 is that store managers are empowered to run the store like their own business. That means teams get tailored support in their career locally while still having the support of the broader IHG and Metcash business behind them. Everyone is extremely passionate about the contribution they get to make to the business success. My favorite thing about working for Minor 10 and being part of the Metcash family is the relationships. I've built so many strong connections in my store, my team. I know it can sound cheesy to say it feels like a family. But for me, that's the experience I've had. What's really helped me throughout my career is the hands on experience I've had in each role. I've always been eager to learn and keep dipping my toes in new things. I've had great mentors along the way who saw potential in me and helped me grow. Hudsons has a culture that encourages you to just give things a go, and that's exactly how I've gotten to where I am today.
