Our 8th European Human Rights report launched today reveals a harsh truth: no EU country fully protects persons with disabilities from losing their right to make decisions, enabling violence and abuse. Regressive policies leave them vulnerable to physical, emotional, and sexual violence with little chance for escape or support. We urge decisive action at all policymaking levels - from the EU and the Council of Europe to EU Member States - to ensure that persons with disabilities are granted the full right to make decisions and control their lives. Indigenous People with Disabilities: Access to Training and Employment is a 2015 publication by the International Labour Organization. This discussion paper focuses on the occupations and employment of Indigenous persons who experience disability. The Equal Treatment Directive to protect EU citizens against discrimination on all grounds, including disability, proposed by the European Commission in 2008 and supported by the European Parliament, remains blocked at the EU Council. 📢 We ask the EU to revive or revise the proposal, if necessary by focusing on disability, to ensure that the banning of discrimination of persons with disabilities is not limited to the area of employment. #StandForInclusiveEU

Proposed legislation aims to reduce the potential for #abuse of #olderadults and people with disabilities by creating public awareness about alternatives to #guardianship, whereas a new federal final rule establishes stronger protections for those subject to guardianships, according to the government. https://lnkd.in/e36MGD4G
