As governments around the world look to accelerate infrastructure delivery to meet net zero targets, address infrastructure deficits and enhance resilience, this is an interesting proposal from the Taoiseach. Whilst it’s likely to enhance accountability, pool resources, and improve access to transferrable and diverse skills, it’s important to fully consider the implications of any potential split between asset owners and asset delivery.

🚀 UK's infrastructure leaps and hurdles! 🚧🌱 In 2024, we navigate through a landscape of triumphs and trials within UK infrastructure spheres, as per the National Infrastructure Commission's latest review. We've witnessed commendable progress from pushing gigabit broadband targets to invigorating regional connectivity, yet challenges loom as policy tweaks disrupt our heat strategy. 🌐💡 Let's unmask the dichotomy in our journey to a modernized, sustainable infrastructure. 👇 ✅ Streaks of success: We're creating digital superhighways with gigabit-capable broadband roaring ahead. Regional empowerment shines with devolution deals spreading across England, rewriting the narrative of local governance. 💻🌍 ⚠️ Stumbling blocks: Yet, the abrupt brakes applied to our heat policy threaten clean energy strides, while the axing of High Speed 2's next phase casts shadows over future growth projections. 🛤️🔗 🔁 The world of externalities: Pandemics to price spikes, external shocks have tossed our infrastructural plans into a maelstrom, calling for swift and strategic counter-actions. ⏱️🌪️ 📈 Bridging the infrastructure gap: Investments are vital to the integrity of our future networks - from greener grids to reviving roadways. Let's not falter as we step into a pivotal chapter post 2024-25. 🏗️💷 🌿 Net Zero and beyond: We're generating renewable energy waves, yet the tides of achieving net zero are rough. Our energy infrastructure must evolve, nurturing innovation in low-carbon heat and hydrogen's role. 🌞🔋 🔗 United regions, united growth: Transport tells the tale of regional rejuvenation. Funding pledges need to morph into action plans, sculpting stronger city connections and bolstering our economic mosaic. 🚌🚆 👨💻 Digital advancements anchored in reality: We celebrate the steps taken towards a digitally inclusive UK but pressing on the accelerator is imperative. The 5G rollout must sprint, not stumble. 📶🏃 🏞️ Prioritising our planet: Amid climate crises, prioritizing environmental resilience has never been more urgent - from curbing flood risks to rethinking waste management methodologies. 🌊♻️ Steady policies, committed investments, and dynamic implementation are the bedrocks of our future infrastructure, a tale we all play a part in scripting. 📘🌿 #UKInfrastructure #NetZeroFuture #DigitalRevolution
