🌱 🌱The "Mali Sanya - Clean Mali" program shows how sustainability can be a win-win. 🌍 AMBERO Consulting GmbH, a #Dorsch Global company, supports small businesses and start-ups in the West African country of #Mali in developing their business ideas in the field of wastewater and waste management. 💼 The small entrepreneurs earn an income while at the same time reducing the amount of waste. The project, which is backed by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH and funded by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ), is one of the ways our colleagues at #Dorsch Global are helping to achieve the #SDGs of the United Nations. 🔄 Small businesses and start-ups can use their business ideas to help close gaps in both waste management and employment promotion. On November 27-28, 2024, the SPECA Economic Forum convened in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, gathering policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to strategize on promoting green economic transformation within the SPECA region. Through focused dialogue and knowledge sharing, the forum sought to enhance regional cooperation and contribute to a sustainable future. The event underscored the urgency of transitioning to a green economy, with a particular emphasis on sustainable transport as a cornerstone for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering regional integration. Dr. Hans Holzhacker, former Chief Economist at the #CARECInstitute, delivered an address highlighting the pivotal role of low-carbon mobility solutions and clean energy integration into transportation systems. He outlined key priorities including the development of green transcontinental corridors, modernization of public transport networks, and the replacement of aging vehicle fleets to establish energy-efficient and inclusive mobility systems. Furthermore, Dr. Hans underlined the importance of stimulating economic growth through trade facilitation, green electrification, and digitalization, advocating for the development of critical infrastructure and leveraging regional partnerships as the foundation for long-term prosperity and sustainable development.

With the Medan-Binjai-Stabat and Tebingtinggi-Indrapura-Limapuluh toll segments linking regions along the east coast, North Sumatra is poised to become a pivotal gateway for goods and passengers from Riau and Aceh. The vision for North Sumatra's economic prosperity doesn't end with infrastructure. Hassanudin emphasizes the need for each region to foster a conducive investment climate, offering competitive wages, affordable transportation, and reasonable land prices. This holistic approach aims to attract investments while ensuring sustainable growth and development across sectors. Recently, strategic discussions at the Pre-Regional Development Planning Forum addressed key challenges and opportunities facing North Sumatra. From downstreaming in the processing industry to tackling poverty and urbanization, stakeholders are aligning their efforts to drive inclusive growth along the east coast. These collaborative initiatives underscore a commitment to holistic development and community empowerment. In neighboring Riau, concerns arise over the proposed tariff increase for the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road. Business associations advocate for a review, citing potential repercussions on the province's economy amidst decelerating growth. The transparent and inclusive recalibration of toll tariffs is crucial to mitigating adverse effects and ensuring sustainable economic progress. Meanwhile, in West Sumatra, momentum builds as construction plans for the Sitinjau Lauik flyover take shape. With PT Hutama Karya leading the project, the region anticipates improved traffic flow and enhanced connectivity.
