We are proud to announce our support for the transformation of the Le Père Henri Souchon – Oasis de Paix Centre into an agriculture school which is set to open its doors in January 2025. Founded in 2006 by Father Henri Souchon and Monique Leung, this institution has already positively impacted the lives of over 2,700 vulnerable children in Mauritius by providing pedagogical and vocational support. With its new status as an educational and vocational training centre, accredited by the MITD, the facility will now accommodate 200 students annually, offering NC1 and NC2 training in technical and theoretical disciplines. We are deeply committed to giving back to society, and we are happy to sponsor materials for the Agricultural Programme, which combines 60% technical and 40% theoretical learning. This programme will empower students across the island to gain valuable skills in smart and regenerative agriculture and build a brighter future. #Ingenia #CorporateVolunteering #EducationForAll #DiversityandInclusion #RegenerativeAgriculture #EmpoweringCommunities #HarelMallacMauritius #GivingBack #ESGAndSustainability

YOUTH in Africa's Agrifood Systems! According to The Malabo Montpellier Panel's report the decline in access and completion rates of secondary and tertiary education emphasizes the need for non-formal education, especially for rural and marginalized communities. Many young people working in agriculture have only completed primary school or have received no education at all. Non-formal educational programs are expected to fulfill multiple purposes, including serving as a substitute for formal schooling for those who lack access, providing additional training for those who require it for employment purposes, and enhancing the skills of those already employed. The #SSETS Training is getting more tense but I believe I will pull through. The answers to my week 4 assignments are as follows. Q2. The 4 Top Goals that align with my research interest are: Goal 1: No Poverty (End poverty in all its forms everywhere) Goal 2: Zero hunger (End hunger, achieve food security, improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture) Goal 3: Good health and well-being (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages) Goal 17: Partnerships for the goals (Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development). The above four goals align with my interest because as a Biostatistician working to improve the health situation of my country, I realize that hunger and poverty are directly related, and they both have negative impact on health. Goal 7 is important because it is the way to achieve the other goals and as a researcher I am already collaborating and partnering to achieve my research goals. Q3. The two academics in my area of research are listed below, although we have not started discussions on research: i. Dr. Usman Sanusi, Umaru Musa Yar'adua University, Katsina (Outside my region) ii. Dr. Testimonies Chikanka Adebayo-Olajide, Caleb University, Lagos (My region) Q4. The NGO that works in my area of research that I would love to with is #HealthStrategyandDeliveryFoundation Kudos to the sponsors of this programme: @Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, @Lancaster University, @British Council and the @National Universities Commission (NUC), as well as @the University of Lagos. Above are to capture #MySDGfocusWithSSETS.

I’m excited to share the results from a recent publication in the Journal of Agricultural Education that I published with co-authors with Dr. Kristin Stair, Dr. Whitney Figland, and Dr. K.S.U. Jayaratne! The publication was funded by a USDA-NIFA grant and examined teachers’ perspectives on globally competent teaching during an international experience in Costa Rica. The results of this investigation illuminated a critical implication for agricultural education – if we more intimately connect the local to the global, perhaps SBAE could position itself to engage in discussions and address problems associated with diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) more profoundly. Moving forward, we recommend that teacher educators and state agricultural education leaders explore how international experiences might be used as an entry point for SBAE to engage in critical conversations and understand how issues of DEIB can be addressed more effectively. https://lnkd.in/gUvRpcGr

IKC3 and our director Dr Helena McMahon, as part of Munster Technological University (MTU), were proud to be involved in the BIObec project which ran from September 2021 to February 2024. The aim of the project was to bridge the gaps between education, industry, and innovation by developing a framework for the design of bio-based education centres (BBECs) in six regions across the EU. MTU were a key partner in this project (including leaders of WP2) and along with the Irish Bioeconomy Foundation were tasked with the plans for a proposed Irish bio-based education centre which would be a central point to link all the actors within the Irish bioeconomy and help drive and develop the Irish bioeconomy industry. Dear Colleagues, Together with UNESCO and the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE), we’ve drafted a framework for what effective Ecosystem Restoration Education could look like. It includes the following key concepts and the corresponding learning objectives: - #Ecosystems Support All Life on Earth (#Interconnectedness) - #Biodiversity and #Resilience - Human-Ecosystem Relationships - Restoration as a Response to #Degradation - #Community Engagement and #Stewardship for Long-Term #Sustainability Would like to have your input on the same https://lnkd.in/dnwQs7vz #GenerationRestoration Bernard Combes Judy Braus Natalia Alekseeva Sean Southey Ian Humphreys Laura Hickey Alan Reid Nina Hamilton
📣 We’d like to hear your thoughts on Ecosystem Restoration Education! As part of our role as Supporting Partner of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, and Leader of Education Challenge 6.1 and Initiative 2, we’re working with our colleagues at UNESCO and the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) to unpack how ecosystem restoration education can be integrated into education systems and educator training globally. 🌍 Now, you might be wondering what exactly ecosystem restoration education is! To figure this out, we’ve drafted an Ecosystem Restoration Education Framework that highlights key concepts and essential lessons related to ecosystem restoration. 🌱 👉 This is where we need your input. Head over to the Learning about Ecosystems and Forests (LEAF) website to check out our draft Ecosystem Restoration Education framework and leave your feedback: https://lnkd.in/dPvS38VN We’ll then use your feedback to revise the framework and better define ecosystem restoration education. #GenerationRestoration
