This is my concern with IDC-owned companies. They don't leave much room for regular retail investors if the IDC owns the majority. IDC can start companies and then offload them to investors at a profit. Instead of just sitting on the shares. They need to start making shares available to retail investors. They own 63% of Zaffico. They should cut their ownership to less than 30% and allow the market institutional and retail investors to take up 70% of the shares in the company so the risk is transferred to the market. #luse #zaffico

Brilliant collaboration between Ligentia and 525-store UK retailer 'The Works'. The Works' Supply Chain Director, Dean Hawkridge stated the benefits of working with Ligentia, with particular focus on our 'Ligentix' visibility platform: "we can now collaborate effectively with our [Asia-based] vendors and have full visibility ... we're using the same base data they are ... we can make conscious trading decisions based on this information." Dean went on to talk about The Works' growth plans, particularly in e-commerce ... now they are tech-enabled they can throw off the yoke of supply chain inefficiency and embrace services that will help drive growth: origin consolidation to save cost, store-ready labelling, scan-packing ... and using their supply chain as a competitive weapon, not a 'cost-centre'. The comment that resonated most for me was: "In a world that's uncertain, and becoming more uncertain, the requirement for visibility so you can make conscious decisions is becoming even more critical than it was before." In celebration of International Day of the Seafarer yesterday, I wanted to share an old 'tall ship' sailing adage to aid supply chain managers; 'those who reef too late may never live to reef again' ... that is to say, if you see a storm approaching, you'd better roll up some canvas, and batten down the hatches while the sea's still calm ... because attempting that act in gale-force winds with waves blasting over the deck would have dire consequences. Those who sail out of storms unscathed are the ones who prepared well, so they could focus on careful navigation and preservation of ship & crew when that storm hit. If we are indeed headed for even more uncertainty, Dean and his team at The Works will be one of those ships sailing out the other side. Pitney Bowes sold their Newgistics (Global Ecommerce / GEC) unit to Hilco Global today. Pitney Bowes stock is up 23% in after hours. There has been talk about this move for a while. For several months, Pitney Bowes has been facing pressure from activist investor Hestia Capital Management. GEC segment had been struggling to achieve profitability over the past several years. The losses associated with GEC was equal to approximately $136 million for the year ended December 31, 2023. Under Hilco’s ownership, two of the GEC Entities have commenced voluntary cases under Chapter 11. In May, Pitney Bowes talked about expediting a strategic review of the Global E-commerce segment. And last month, Pitney Bowes sold the fulfillment services business from its e-commerce segment to the logistics startup Stord.
