🎅 As we prepare to wind down for the festive season, I couldn’t resist sharing this photo of Belle, my recently rescued Dalmatian from Dundee City Council, who has clearly mastered the fine art of “total festive shutdown.” If only we could all switch off this effortlessly! For many, this time of year is about pausing, reflecting, and finding moments of calm amidst the chaos, and I think Belle’s pose has a lesson for us all, relax, but keep your ears ready for action (or snacks). Christmas can be a challenging time for our customers, especially those facing housing issues or vulnerabilities. It’s our job to ensure that, even during the festive season, they feel supported and cared for. Whether it’s through clear communication, streamlined services, or simply showing empathy, the small things we do now can make a big difference. Belle’s approach reminds me of how important it is to create an environment where people, staff and customers alike, feel they can rest easy, knowing support is there when it’s needed. As we break for Christmas, let’s reflect on how we can keep being the steady sofa that others can lean on, figuratively, of course, no Dalmatians were displaced in the making of this post. Here’s to finding balance, embracing calm, and being there for our communities, this Christmas and beyond. Merry Christmas everyone! 🐾 #CustomerService #HousingSupport #EmpathyMatters #FestiveShutdown #CommunityCare #MakingADifference #CustomerExperience

Respecting someone’s choice to skip celebrations, creating quiet spaces for those overwhelmed by the season, or simply showing understanding can really help to foster goodwill. The attached PDF includes some useful, practical tips for making this season as inclusive and supportive as it can be. Please share this with anyone you think will find it useful, and together we can promote acceptance, support and goodwill to everyone this festive period. #Vulnerability #VulnerabilityMatters #Goodwill #Christmas #Festive

Friday 4 Family Think Twice: Can You Really Stop for a Few Days During the Festive Season? Someone once said, “When we are old and ready to transition, the only regrets we may have are the times we didn’t spend with loved ones while trying to make a living for the same.” These words have become so real to me. As I reminisce with my two lovely girls, I am reminded that they don’t remember the toys, the devices, or the TV in separate rooms. What they remember are the moments we shared—the activities we did together, the laughter, and the time spent in each other’s company. It’s a rude awakening, but an important one: the things we think our loved ones need to feel loved and content are not the things that truly matter. As we approach the festive season, I urge you to reflect on how you’re spending your time. Family is key. It’s all you have, even in the final moments of life. If you still have time to make changes, make it count. The moments with your loved ones are priceless. This Christmas, as we often feel the pull of work and the busyness of life, remember that the greatest gift we can give is our time, presence, and love. Let’s prioritize creating memories, not just accumulating things. “What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.” – Albert Pike What will you do differently this year to make family time truly count? #FamilyTime #MakingMemories #ReflectAndConnect #TimeWellSpent #ChristmasReflection #LoveAndPresence
