[IV] Transcrime @ #ASC2024 | Can we track firearm incidents in (near) real time? An effective strategy for combating #firearms trafficking requires the collection, analysis, and exchange of accurate and reliable cross-border intelligence. Across Europe, however, fragmented systems, data inconsistencies and a lack of common data-sharing methods make this a challenging task. Our work within the EU-funded Ceasefire Project, presented by Caterina Paternoster, proposes a solution: a near real-time tracking tool for firearms incidents in Europe. This tool relies on #opensource data analytics to extract critical details from each incident, streamlining the collection and sharing of information between stakeholders across borders.
