I was consulting a LinkedIn client this week. It felt like I was talking to younger me. → She wanted to build a freedom-filled life → She wanted to earn and travel the world → She wanted to do 10000 things at once The similarities in our goals were uncanny. But I had to tell her a hard lesson I learned this year. "Doing 10000 things will be exciting and entertaining but you won't make money. Are you okay with that?" Long story short → she wasn't. Don't get me wrong, her generalistic wants came from the right place (her desire to be authentic). Where she went "rogue" was in her approach. After thinking and introspecting a lot, she smiled. I knew a bulb had gone off in her head. If there's any lesson to be learned here, it's this: Don't let your desire to be authentic stop you from doing what "works". Following the herd isn't a bad thing; it's only bad if you don't resonate with them. Herds exist everywhere but you need not avoid them.
