Did you know that recovery homes for trafficked survivors, regardless of their age, often require a prolonged period of support and healing? National Studies have shown that 2-3 years in a residential program is recommended to allow sufficient time for mind, body, soul, and spirit recovery and reintegration. The recovery process for survivors of sex trafficking involves three stages. It generally takes place over two to three years: 1) the crisis stage 2) the transition stage and 3) the reintegration and inclusion stage Offering long-term case management and support to help survivors reintegrate into society successfully. Community Integration: Assisting survivors in establishing a sense of normalcy and community, including finding stable housing, reliable transportation, and employment. Empowerment and Advocacy: Encouraging survivors to become advocates for themselves and others, promoting empowerment and self-sufficiency. These stages are crucial in ensuring that survivors receive the comprehensive support they need to heal and rebuild their lives. As we begin this week, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound impact of maternal incarceration on children. These innocent lives are often caught in a cycle of emotional turmoil, grappling with feelings of abandonment, stigma, and loss. Children of incarcerated mothers face unique challenges that can lead to long-lasting psychological effects, including anxiety, depression and social isolation. Imagine the confusion and heartache of a child who must navigate the world without their mother, often feeling ashamed or misunderstood by peers. The stigma associated with having an incarcerated parent can lead to bullying and social exclusion, compounding their trauma. These children are not just statistics; they are our future, deserving of compassion and support. Let's advocate for understanding and resources that can help these children heal and thrive. Together, we can break the cycle of trauma and ensure every child has the opportunity to grow up in a loving environment, free from the shadows of Incarceration. Let's raise our voices for those who cannot speak for themselves. #endthestigma #supportchildren #maternalincarceration #leavingnoonebehind #CommunityEngagement

It’s hard to imagine that, instead of going to school or being cared for by their families, children are sent to work every day in factories, mines, or other harsh environments. Many more are recruited into armed conflict, forced into drug trafficking, prostitution, or other illicit activities. Each year, hundreds of millions of boys and girls are involved in work that prevents them from experiencing the basic rights of childhood, including education, play, adequate rest, mental health, and more. World Day Against Child Labor sheds light on and increases public awareness about the plight of these children, aiming to end such forms of child abuse and neglect. Join us in raising awareness and taking action to protect children worldwide. #WorldDayAgainstChildLabor #EndChildLabor #ProtectChildren #EveryChildMatters #ChildhoodRights #StopChildLabor #RaiseAwareness #SaveOurChildren #FightForChildhood #EducationForAll #NoMoreChildLabor #HumanRights #SupportChildhood #GlobalAction #HopeForChildren #KenfillTechnoSolutions

How observant are you to what exist in your community? Do you see a situation and just put it aside? The most neglected and vulnerable in our communities are the children who are either abandoned, abused, or living in a world most of us can't even imagine. Secrets and horrors hidden behind closed doors. Yet seldom do you hear anything mentioned about this ever growing situation with an estimated 5mil children a year become abandoned and homeless just in the US. Most homeless youth and young adults have experienced significant trauma before and after becoming homeless and are particularly vulnerable, including victims of sexual abuse and exploitation. Realizing our lives are busy and we have responsibilities we all must realize the most important and rewarding things we do is help others especially those who can't help themselves. Today rescuing 5 children under 10 yrs old who had not eaten a full meal in over a week due to absent and drug addicted parents was a painful and heartbreaking experience. But tonight even though they are scared they are safe, clothed, fed and being nurtured and shown love by perfect strangers. And although I am happy I am also sad as I know there are so many others waiting to be rescued from horrific situations. This is a call to everyone to be observant of possible situations that need investigation where children are involved as it could save the life of a child. You don't have to get involved just simply contact your local child protective agency. #preventionofchildabuse #childabuse #abandonment #fostercare #hunger #protectourchildren #childprotectiveservices #saveachild

DEAR ANTI-TRAFFICKING COMMUNITY, I have an idea, and hear me out. How about we stop taking tortured, captive American sex slaves directly from their traffickers and asking them, ***insert patronizing voice*** Well now that you are free, what kind of labor do you want to do for the rest of your life starting today?" STOP. Full STOP. We don't even know what our favorite foods are or our favorite color. STOP FUNDING "worker" programs. These programs are trash. We need SLEEP, rehabilitation services, long-term housing, ongoing complex medical care, LAWYERS (of all kinds), remote stable jobs, on-call therapy, just to name a few. I will NEVER AGAIN SUPPORT any survivor "working" program, and I will FIGHT for a community where people can actually HEAL. I envision a community that supports each other, our kids and our animals in peace. Need to sleep for 2 months? -cool Need childcare while you do that?-cool Need stable long term housing private in the woods?-cool Hate everyone, I get it -cool Just need to be fed at your home for 6 months while you grieve?-cool Need custody?-cool Got a record?- got it cool Want a job?-cool Just like making food?-cool, got a place for you Only want to walk dogs and not speak to anyone?- cool Want to talk about it?-cool Want Justice?- Yep cool We need a soft place to land. Not more NEW responsibility.

🔎 Children who live in fatherless households often face higher risks of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect than children who live in households with a father present. Children with involved fathers tend to do better in #school, have better grades, and are less likely to be expelled and/or repeat grades. 👉 Explore Father Involvement Interventions reviewed by the CEBC here: https://lnkd.in/d4e29iQ #childwelfare #evidencebased #wellbeing #fatherhood #parenting #childwellbeing

*Content warning: Child abuse, sexual abuse, mental health and suicide* . . . . . Too many Australian children live the reality of cycling between residential care (group homes) and youth detention as they struggle with their mental health due to the abuse and trauma they’ve experienced. Sadly, we hear stories like Josh’s and the other children in this article, right across Australia. 💔 It is important that these stories are heard so we remember that the need for change is urgent. There is so much at stake. We know that home-based models of care, like kinship and #FosterCare, better meet the relational and developmental needs of children and are the preferred models of out-of-home care. And where residential care is needed because there are not enough foster carers, residential homes should be safe, responsive and therapeutic environments for the children and young people who live there. And children and young people should always have a choice and a voice about things that impact them, including where they live and how they access mental health supports. For every young person, carer and worker who spoke up and contributed their voice to this important story, we hear you and continue to advocate alongside you to make out-of-home care systems across Australia safer and better for children and young people. We will keep doing this by meeting with decision-makers, writing submissions, listening to children and young people, and supporting them to know their rights and advocate for them. CREATE is listening and we hear your calls for change. 💜 #ChildProtection #OOHC #ResidentialCare
