𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭! Finally, food scientists have "re-appropriated" the development of new products for an apparently schizophrenic market. If until a few years ago the development of foods (from the list of ingredients to packaging) was a prerogative of marketers, today due to the complexity of new food models (health, well-being, lifestyles, nutrition) this part has returned to the sphere of scientists food. Marketers remain involved in the communication phases. The speeches of Howard Moskowitz and Sebastiano Porretta, who have collaborated for decades having written dozens of books together, will talk about this and the new systems also based on AI in their key notes at the 22nd IUFoST World Congress of Food Science and Technology in Rimini. . #iufost2024italy #foodandthecnology #FoodTechRevolution #foodandthecnology #foodscience #foodtechnologist #foodindustry #technology #foodie #foodsafety #foodprocessing #foodscientist #technologyart

🍲 The Role of AI in Personalized Nutrition 🍲 Today, consumers are looking for healthier, more personalized food choices. AI is helping brands like Zoe and EatLove deliver meal plans and shopping lists tailored to individual needs. But, with such personalization comes the need for ethical standards and transparency. The EU AI Act is a reminder that AI in nutrition and wellness must prioritize consumer rights. Brands that comply with these standards stand to gain consumer trust while reducing risks. At Qina, we’re committed to supporting F&B companies in navigating this complex regulatory landscape. We in partnership with Lumiera can help you navigate the complexities, send us an IM #PersonalizedNutrition #AICompliance #FoodAndHealth #Qina #F&B #FutureofFood

In our consumer research report “Food As Medicine," we sought to understand a complicated landscape by analyzing consumer insights and expert perspectives. This analysis guided us to focus on three core elements of business design for brands operating in the Food As Medicine space: taste, efficacy, and convenience. We’ve found that these three critical dimensions often stand in tension with one another, and may show up as trade-offs — though it’s not a zero-sum game. While we expect to see some existence of each of the three levers in every brand, we also expect founding teams to be intentional with their decision on which to anchor and to design their business (e.g., product, business model, operating model) accordingly. Taste: Does it taste good? Or, at least good enough? Efficacy: Does it work? Is progress “feelable”? Convenience: Does it help make the hard decision easy? Or, at least — easier? #brandbuilding #nutrition #foodstartup #consumerobsessed

Insights from the June “Keeping INFORMed” event, hosted by the INFORM Innovation Hub. The INFORM hub focuses on the potential of functional foods to support health. It aims to bring together research and industry to tackle challenges and generate ideas 🗯 Key insights from the event: 1️⃣ There are huge limitations for the food industry in making health claims around the health effects of functional foods and ingredients. But, do we need health claims relating to functional foods (e.g. “Polyphenols support cognitive function”) or would nutrient claims be enough to portray the benefit to consumers (e.g. “High in polyphenols”)? 2️⃣ Collaboration between industry and academia is so important to ensure the credible research being carried out also supports the gaps that the industry needs to support its innovations and ultimately, improve people's health. Insightful panel discussions were had too 🎙 . It was an honour to hear from Professor Glenn Gibson who founded the term ‘prebiotic’ and is the author of the most highly cited paper on the topic! As well as industry experts like Sue Gatenby - Senior Director of Nutrition Sciences at PepsiCo, Gavin Stainton FRSB - Senior Principle Scientist at Herbalife, and Leo Campbell Co-founder of the Modern Baker. We're excited to keep these important conversations going and drive positive change in the industry. #BIOVIT #Nutrition #Health #Collaboration #INFORMHub #OIRCHubs #FunctionalFood #Prebiotic Eiméar Sutton MSc ANutr
