Innovate UK’s Post

Innovate UK is proud to support innovation in aerospace and aviation. The Farnborough International Airshow may be over for another year, but here are some highlights of our week in case you missed them. 💡UK Research and Innovation Future Flight Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK and ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council published the Future Flight Use Cases report, revealing intriguing glimpses of how future flight technologies could transform aviation. ✅ The Challenge also funded and published a study, featuring social sciences research led by the University of Birmingham, which found that the public can be supportive of new aviation technologies, so long as there is clear public benefit and addressing of public concerns. ✈️ During the show, the Future Flight team staged a takeover at the AtkinsRéalis chalet, showcasing some of their flagship R&D projects. These included the Air Mobility Ecosystem Consortium (AMEC) project, which, later this year, will demonstrate advanced air mobility aircraft operating from a purpose built vertiport from Skyports Infrastructure vertiport. 🤝 Innovate UK showcased its involvement in the EU Science, Research and Innovation Horizon Europe programme, which has supported the UK’s leading aviation and aerospace sector through 111 grants worth £103m between 2021-23. ➡️ Last but not least, No Limits a platform from Innovate UK, designed to transform the talent and skills pipeline for innovation, was on-hand at the Careers Hub during the Airshow’s #PioneersofTomorrow day, to help tap into the potential of the next generation of innovators. During the day, No Limits gained 29 partner leads and added 20 new opportunities to the platform. Want to learn more about the Future Flight Challenge?
