AMI Stretch and Shrink Films conference in Charleston, SC has wrapped up after an excellent program discussing several key impacts to the industry. These included: - EPR status in the US and the applicability to secondary B2B packaging by FPA and Ameripen. - The impact of stretch film imports into NA and the premium NA producers are paying for PE resin vs. other regions, making it more difficult for NA producers to compete. Excellent presentation by Esteban Sagel of Chemical and Polymer Market Consultants. - Inclusion of PCR in stretch films and the impending PPWR regulations in EU that will significantly impact the long term viability of PE based stretch wrap in the EU. The conference also provided an excellent opportunity to connect with customers and new contacts for Ingenia's new Regional Sales Manager for the SouthEast US region, Mr. Aric Axness, pictured on the left. Looking forward to next year's conference!

Clariant has introduced the Exolit AP 422 A, a new-generation, melamine-free flame retardant offering enhanced fire resistance and safety to meet the stringent requirements of modern industries. This innovation marks a significant advancement in fire protection by eliminating melamine, positioning Exolit AP 422 A as a valuable asset for developing high-performance coatings and sealants without reliance on melamine. In anticipation of current and future regulatory challenges surrounding melamine, Clariant has dedicated years of research toward creating a sustainable, SVHC-free alternative to the original Exolit AP 422 flame retardant. Sebastian Moschel, Business Development Manager of Clariant’s Passive Fire Protection segment, stated, “Exolit AP 422 A upholds the trusted reliability of the Exolit line, enabling our customers to maintain a competitive edge in fire protection products, particularly in regulatory compliance. This development allows manufacturers to adapt to evolving regulations while preserving the effectiveness of their fire safety solutions.”

Very high level conference focusing on solutions for Sustainability of Pigments in the face of increasing EU Commission Regulations
At the beginning of July, the European manufacturers of #pigment, #dyes, #filler and ceramic colours met for the #Eurocolour International Technical Committee in Bologna, hosted by the Italian member association Ceramicolor. The 35 participants discussed numerous regulatory topics, for example, the effects of the CLP revision, the feasibility of the GRA and the Essential Use concept, the current CLH processes for particular substances, the effects of the new hazard classes. One focus was the discussion about 5 years of the EU Green Deal and other challenges and the impact on the chemical industry from Eurocolour's perspective. In addition, the representatives of the national associations reported on their activities, as well as the report of the representative of the CPMA on the relevant regulations in the US and Canada.

Last week, Specialty Silicone Products, Inc. attended the Fall 2024 Meeting of the GASKET FABRICATORS ASSOCIATION in New Orleans, Louisiana. As an Associate GFA Member and material supplier, we engaged in valuable discussions with fabricators and converters. Here are three key insights we gained: - If you're struggling with different versions of material specifications, help is available. - Suppliers, converters, and testing laboratories are essential allies in navigating this challenge. - It's crucial to actively participate and connect in the industry—sitting on the sidelines won't bring progress. https://lnkd.in/gjcwcs9z #GasketFabricatorsAssociation #MaterialSupplier #IndustryInsights #Networking #Collaboration
