And we’re back! Welcoming our new cohort of 2025D MBAs on our Europe and Asia campuses! Did you know the biosphere – the only known place in the universe providing the unique conditions for life -- only spans 12.4 miles (20 kilometers)? This fascinating fact was just one of the key takeaways shared with students during a sustainability session at Launch Week. This week, Katell. Le Goulven, PhD, Executive Director of the INSEAD Hoffmann Institute, and Dr. Vinika Devasar Rao, Asia Director of the INSEAD Hoffmann Institute engaged new students in a discussion on sustainability. They highlighted the importance of this critical topic for future careers and companies, touching on the alarming fact that 6 out of the 9 planetary boundaries have already been crossed and exploring how the tension between profit and higher purpose has evolved for business leaders in the last half century. On the Europe Campus, this session featured INSEAD alumn Come Perpere MBA’11D, Chief Sustainability Officer at Microsoft France, who shared insights into his career journey and the evolving role of sustainability in the corporate world. He highlighted how companies now expect the next generation of leaders to integrate sustainability into all roles, demonstrating its relevance across industries. Meanwhile, on the Asia Campus, another illustrious INSEAD alum Sylvain Guyoton, MBA ‘02D, Chief Rating Officer at EcoVadis, described his 20 year journey in the sustainability and ESG solutions space and explained what motivated his wife and him to sponsor the INSEAD Climate Change scholarship (https://lnkd.in/ezUKV9Vd) founded in 2022. Our new MBAs had many questions and suggestions making the discussions interactive and engaging. 👇What does sustainability mean for your career aspirations? 2wAbsolute pleasure to be here with this new cohort for their first day. Hope I managed to convince a few a them that ESG backlash was a short term event and that Inseaders not only had a big role and responsbility to play, but also that sustainability skills were a super strong career competitive advantage ;-)
