On the Right to Die (like the trees) under the European Convention on Human Rights A year ago, I recommended reading the article by Dániel Karsai on Verfassungsblog "The Right To Die Like The Trees - Standing" on the case now decided by the European Court of Human Rights https://lnkd.in/dJX9btGr. If you are interested in the scope of #HumanRights under the #EuropeanConventiononumanRights, I recommend reading the decision below. We need lasting policies which protect our health and fix a system which is not adequately addressing the numerous and diverse harms alcohol causes our society. But change is possible! Here's a reminder of what we’d like to see: ✔️Create an environment which prevents alcohol harm ✔️End stigma and recognise the complexity of alcohol harm ✔️Ensure everyone can access support and treatment You can read our full manifesto asks here: https://lnkd.in/eVWS4Ewj #EndAlcoholHarm #AlcoholAwarenessWeek

Please see my comment on the unfortunate delay in the menthol cigarette ban, with an additional, science-based focus on the devastating lack of authorization of almost any reduced-risk products thus far by @FDATobacco: https://lnkd.in/enqZ_Z3A
The delay in the ban on menthol cigarettes risks the lives of millions of people who smoke. The U.S. must finalize this long-awaited ban and simultaneously allow reduced-risk menthol nicotine products on the market to improve public health. https://lnkd.in/ev6JRQGx

📢 Celebrating Progress in Substance Use Policy Reform WESUP celebrates the hard-fought repeal of Bill 34, a bold step toward compassionate, evidence-based substance use policies. In the face of a growing backlash against harm reduction nationwide, this victory proves progress is possible. This would not have been possible without the tireless advocacy of harm reduction organizations, specifically Harm Reduction Nurses Association (HRNA), the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition (CDPC) and Pivot Legal Society. Your dedication to promoting harm reduction and challenging unjust policies inspires us all. This repeal underscores the power of collaboration and strategic action in creating meaningful change. Together, we must continue to push for policies rooted in empathy, equity, and evidence, ensuring safer, healthier communities for everyone. #HarmReduction #DrugPolicyReform #HumanRights #WESUP #CDPC #HRNA #PivotLegalSociety

The problem of Medical Kidnappings is not specific to Canada only. US has the same issue - SICK children get misdiagnosed and as victims of abuse by doctors contracted by CAS/CPS and as a result, apprehended and their loving parents who are harassed for months to years until the case goes to trial where they are able to provide evidence of their children's medical issues - despite CAS's and their doctors' desparate appempts to prevent them from accessing the child's medical records and obtaining second medical opinions from experts in the relevant fields. Watch a US documentary Helps that Harms on this topic: https://lnkd.in/gNVC62y9 Watch CTV W5's Dubious Diagnosis for examples from Ontario.
