In my book, the Floor 3 Plan, I talk about my experience with Theta Chi Fraternity and how we used the Floor 3 method to overcome challenges. I learned so much about leadership and how our actions reflect our values. Greek Fraternities are a lot more than what you see in the movies.
WSJ.com's op-ed proclaims the positives of the fraternity experience: "A 2024 study found that young men in fraternities were more likely than their nonaffiliated peers to report having “discussions with diverse others”—evidence that these associations promote pluralism and tolerance. These young men were also more likely to be engaged both inside and outside the classroom, to gain internships, and to take advantage of extracurricular campus activities." 🌟 Exciting Announcement! 🌟 I'm thrilled to share that I've joined the Racist Covenants Research Project (RCRP) as a researcher! 🧑🔬📚 📍 About RCRP: The Racist Covenants Research Project consists of an interdisciplinary team at the University of Nevada, Reno, aimed at uncovering and understanding the structural racism embedded in property deeds and other aspects of Nevada’s history. Our work involves mapping, documenting, and educating about racist restrictive covenants, contributing to the State of Nevada's efforts to remove such discriminatory language from real estate documents. 🏡❌ 👥 Team & Collaboration: The project is co-directed by Dr. Jacob Dorman and Christopher von Nagy, Ph.D., with an advisory board chaired by Caesar Andrews from the Reynolds School of Journalism. We collaborate with experts, volunteers, and community partners to explore and interpret the historical implications of racist practices and their contemporary impacts. 🤝🌍 🔍 What We Do: mapping work: documenting and mapping racist covenants, with over 6,843 identified in Washoe County alone. Oral Histories: Collecting personal stories and community perspectives on historically racist housing practices. Volunteering & Internships: Offering opportunities for community members and high school students to engage in meaningful research and public history projects. 📚 Learn More: Interested in our work or want to get involved? Check our webpage at https://lnkd.in/gGQedZAU Email us at covenants@unr.edu or sharedhistory@unr.edu. Many of my choices subsequent to obtaining my law degree and licenses to practice have remained rooted in an unequivocal belief that constitutional rights are sacred and should be protected, respected, and upheld, regardless of dissent or differences in opinions. One of the hardest tasks as a practitioner (and loving human) is conveying the value of civil discourse and the basic principles to achieving it when people are impatient, quick to speak and unwilling to listen, and demonstrating indifference to the fact that people can and should disagree but still love one another as humanity demands. The ACLU penned a letter that speaks to some of these issues and tries to provide guidance that only helps those who are willing to listen and evolve their awareness and understanding. At the least, I hope my connections consider how much more love and compassion they can give to chip away at the painful discourse and sadness circulating in our communities. In whatever role you serve yourself and others, I believe more awareness and understanding is a vital part of improving the things that keep us from becoming better individually and collectively. Leadership is vastly influenced by how you view the dynamic people and spaces in the universe.

It's cliche, but it's true: the unexamined life is not worth living. There is a reason why this ancient wisdom has been passed down for centuries. This maxim is the beating heart of philosophy. The philosopher is animated by a deeply human desire to search and know. Stamped on our hearts is the creational imperative to be fruitful and multiply, to cultivate the earth and subdue it. In other words, to engage with the world. Not just to observe it, but to be part of it. Tyndale University's philosophy program channels the philosophic spirit in its unashamed pursuit and promotion of the good life. It is a life, I have learned, that is not spent in echo-chambers, but rather pursues an ascent out of the cave of shadows into reality--into the arms of the living, triune God. Through the mentorship of scholars like Dr. Richard Davis and Dr. Scott Masson, I have been equipped not only to understand and defend Christian teaching, but to love and admire it. Through them I have seen the cross not only illuminated by reason (a cross which is folly to those who are perishing, and thus needs the illumination of the Holy Spirit for people like you and I to see it as our salvation), but to see it clothed in beauty, love, and grace. Not to see it abstractly, as a theoretical device or sociological/historical phenomenon, but to see it only and ever with my Saviour hanging on it--with His arms reaching out to me. If you would like to learn more about how Tyndale's philosophy program has changed my life and shaped me as a student, you can read this interview I did here:
