📈 Rising to the Challenge: Enhancing Connectivity for MDU Residents I recently came across an insightful article from Parks Associates discussing the growing need for reliable connectivity in multifamily living. The article really struck a chord with me—especially considering the trends we’ve observed over the past year. While the article notes that 36% of apartment renters and 59% of condo owners were working from home, I’ve noticed something even more significant: about a 16-18% increase in residents working from their homes compared to last year. This shift makes the demand for faster, more reliable internet even more pressing. At Connectivity Tech Value for MDU Residents, we’re both concerned and excited about this development. Concerned, because we understand the critical role connectivity plays in people’s daily lives. But also excited, because we have the opportunity to step up and provide the infrastructure needed to enhance residents' work-from-home experience. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our efforts are helping residents stay connected, productive, and satisfied in their homes. In the fast-paced environment of property rentals, understanding the preferences of prospective tenants is vital. With the technological needs of renters continuing to evolve, property companies are inclined to provide managed Wi-Fi networks to enhance the resident experience. A recent survey conducted by the National Multifamily Housing Council and Grace Hill partners gives an insightful glimpse into the predicted renter preferences for 2024. Covering 78 markets across the United States, the Renter Preferences Survey shows high-speed internet and reliable cell reception as non-negotiables for 90% and 86% of survey respondents, respectively. Smart home technology such as video doorbells, keyless smart locks, and smart thermostats are increasingly becoming desirable features, with renters willing to pay a premium for these conveniences.
