Strong messages from National Human Rights Institutions and National Equality Bodies from across Europe calling for stronger protection of social rights and for stronger commitment from Council of Europe member states to the European Social Charter, the Social Constitution of Europe. The message, pointing to a number of areas of particular concern (#youth, #housing, #poverty, etc) is all the more important given the status, mandates and standing of European #Ombuds institutions #ENNHRI European Network of National Human Rights Institutions and Equinet, European Network of Equality Bodies

CA Tittle: Political Equality The video is all about Political Equality, its features and how Political Equality has an effect in the country. Political equality refers to the principle that all citizens should have equal rights and opportunities to participate in the political process, regardless of their background, wealth, or social status. It is a fundamental concept in democratic societies, emphasizing the idea that every individual's voice should carry equal weight in shaping public policies and decisions. Political equality ensures that each person has an equal chance to vote, run for office, express their opinions, and influence the direction of their community or country. This principle is essential for promoting fairness, justice, and inclusivity in governance, aiming to create a level society where everyone is treated fairly and equally under the political system. 🌍 Guardians of Justice: Uniting for Democracy, Human Rights, and Dignity in Southern Africa 🌍 As the 2024 Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders Summit unfolds today in Johannesburg, we gather with unwavering resolve to honor the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of human rights defenders (HRDs) across the region. These defenders—champions of democracy and equality—stand as pillars of hope amidst adversity. Women human rights defenders (WHRDs), in particular, inspire us through their unmatched strength and determination, advocating for the most vulnerable despite facing gendered threats and repression. The challenges of 2024 have been profound: ⚖️ Civic spaces are shrinking under oppressive regimes. 🗳️ Elections have been a double-edged sword, revealing both democratic triumphs and systemic failures. 💔 Lives have been lost, freedoms suppressed, and defenders targeted for standing up against injustice. But through it all, the spirit of justice remains unbroken. HRDs embody Nelson Mandela’s wisdom: "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it." This Summit is more than a reflection; it is a call to action: 1️⃣ Protect Civic Spaces to ensure democracy thrives. 2️⃣ Support Human Rights Defenders with the resources they need to continue their vital work. 3️⃣ Demand Accountability from governments and institutions. 4️⃣ Empower Future Leaders, fostering a new generation committed to justice and equality. Let us channel the wisdom of Desmond Tutu: "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." Today, we reaffirm our commitment to justice, freedom, and human dignity. Together, we will ensure that the arc of history bends not just toward justice, but toward a future where every voice is heard, and every right is protected. Let us go far—together. ✊ #HumanRights #SouthernAfrica #Democracy #Justice #WHRDs #CivicSpace Anton Mifsud-Bonnici Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders Network RMDDH - Rede Moçambicana dos Defensores de Direitos Humanos CDD-Centro Para Democracia e Direitos Humanos Sheila Wilson

Unit Cohesion: Male Disenfranchisement in American Politics This paper tackles an essential and controversial factor in American politics: the institutional and social undervaluation of issues influencing men results in lower political cohesiveness and participation among men voters. This research unequivocally criticizes the pattern of disproportionately giving female-centric issues top priority, therefore neglecting male-specific issues which demonstrate up as increased disenfranchisement and insufficient activism on behalf of men. https://lnkd.in/e4ynpQqU #Politics #Vote #Election2024 Maryann Petri Donald Trump Jr. Vivek Ramaswamy Republican National Committee

We must protect #OpenSociety in which all individuals are respected. #IdentityPolitics further increases already existing divisions within our society by emphasizing group interests over individual rights. This fundamentally undermines our liberal, democratic, and open society that strives for social justice, equality, and opportunities for all. 📑 Read ELF's new paper on the future of European liberalism here: https://bit.ly/3TRnQz5

Did you know? 🤔💡 ✔️ Half of the people on our planet are 30 or younger, and this is expected to reach 57% by the end of 2030. ✔️ Globally, only 2.6% of parliamentarians are under 30 years old. ✔️ The majority of people agree that the age balance in politics is wrong. More than two-thirds (69%) of people across all age groups agree that more opportunities for younger people to have a say in policy development/change would make political systems better.
