⚡️ 🇦🇺 Firefighters are responding to a fire at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. Witnesses reported seeing black smoke and children running out of the building. The roof was completely ablaze and solar panels were said to have caught fire.

Santa Cruz Wharf Collapse: A Stark Reminder of Nature’s Power 🌊 The Santa Cruz Wharf faced a devastating collapse this week, with 45 meters at the end destroyed during a $4 million project to repair prior storm damage, evoking memories of last year’s #Ventura Beach floods around the same time of year. Although the tide wasn’t particularly high, the #swell was massive, with nearby stations recording significant wave heights: 6 meters at NDBC 46284 (23 m depth) and 8 meters at #NDBC 46239 (250 m depth)-see our analysis in the comments. Sitting in Los Angeles and looking at my apartment’s ash-covered pool, I started thinking about Firefighter 1, a product featured on Shark Tank ABC. It’s designed to turn pools into a resource for protecting homes during wildfires. Unfortunately, the deal from the show didn’t go through post-episode. It makes me wonder: How many people with pools have access to this device? And how many lives and homes could it potentially save if they did? Wildfires are becoming a common challenge, and tools like Firefighter 1 (https://lnkd.in/g2ZZMvxS) could play a critical role in prevention and preparedness. My family and I are lucky to be safe, but my heart goes out to those affected by wildfires.
