We are saddened to share that the National Drowning Report 2024 shows that:
🔵 323 people drowned in Australian waterways
🔵 26% of drownings were at beaches and 25% at rivers
🔵 28% were aged 65 years and over
🔵 Between the ages of 10 and 20 drowning rates increase tenfold
🔵 83 people who drowned were born overseas
This report is a reminder that water safety and drowning prevention starts at home, in schools and at local swimming pools. By strengthening communities swimming and water safety skills, we can ensure everyone is able to enjoy the water safely.
