According to the most recent #UNICEF report of Early Childhood Education and Development #ECD, 60% of children in low-income countries do not have access to early care and learning opportunities. To meet national targets of providing at least one year of organized learning before primary school, low-income and lower-middle-income countries must fill an annual financial gap of USD 21 billion and recruit at least six million more educators before 2030. Ignoring the fact that USD21 billion is near impossible number to reach for these countries, it still only addresses a small part of the major problem, which is 1) Accessibility and 2) Affordability. Even if the USD 21 billion affordability hurdle can somehow be overcome and a sufficient number of qualified teachers can be provided, the accessibility hurdle will still remain. Nearly half of children from low-income countries live in rural areas, with no means to access any early age educational facilities, whilst the USD21 billion figure does not include the costs related to books, safe kindergartens or nursery schools, and any educational equipment. The current model is providing early age education is simply not viable. Like it or dislike it, but high quality, screen based early age educational solutions is the only affordable and accessible option with a realistic possibility of success. https://lnkd.in/eFywZhUS
