Today, our colleagues from the national solar associations ☀️ from across Europe gathered in Brussels for our annual strategy day.   The day was marked by vibrant discussions covering a diverse array of topics.   We kicked off the day by discussing the upcoming #EUElections2024 🗳️, the main challenges foreseen and how to overcome them. We also spoke about the #UseYourVote campaign and how everyone can get on board to share the message about the elections.   In breakout sessions we took a deep dive into the crisis facing EU solar manufacturers are how we can overcome this; from funding and incentives to regulatory practices and resilience policies.   In our rooftop solar 🏠 session, we discussed the challenges of insufficient incentives for #flexibility within existing schemes, and identified solutions that can shape the future of solar energy in the EU.   Another session covered navigating #grid connection queues, and we gained insights into prioritisation criteria and explored solutions to expedite projects across Europe.   And finally, in today's hybrid solar session, we explored EU regulatory frameworks to identify opportunities for optimising policies and practices, powering the growth of solar and renewables.   As always, it was inspiring to come together with our national counterparts to exchange knowledge and best practices, as we pave the way for a solar-powered future! For the first time, the world's largest mobile floating PV plant powered the Paris Olympics, providing green electricity to the athletes' village on the Seine River. This 78 kW solar marvel, rented by EDF ENR, spanned 470 square meters and operated independently without grid connection. Remarkably, it was up and running in less than 24 hours, offering a sustainable alternative to generators for events and remote sites. Innovation like this not only powers events but also paves the way for greener solutions in energy generation. We are excited to announce that the SolarHub project will be represented at the 30th SolarPACES Conference (October 8th-11th, 2024) in Rome, Italy with three poster presentations. SolarPACES is an important international Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) network under the framework of the International Energy Agency (IEA). Already back from the EU PVSEC congress that was held this year in the city of Vienna (Austria) I have had the opportunity to present my work: “Longtime economic and energetic viability of PV facilities in Castilla y León, Spain” while I have learned a lot with the presentations of my colleagues on a multitude of topics such as: new materials, photovoltaic maintenance, agrivoltaic, BIPV, etc. I don’t know if it will be the last congress I attend, but of course we will continue to push and learn.
