My First Job in Tech I was working at a job with limited time to code; my GitHub commit map was so scanty that you could literally count the greens. I knew I had a passion for coding and had the basic skills, but due to a lack of job opportunities, I had to use what I had to make ends meet. On a fateful day, I was called by a mentor who told me that he needed an intern for a certain project and would likely not pay or pay stipends for data. The timing of the call coincided with when I was having a paradigm shift in my present job, so I obliged. The following week, he called me back and told me that he would be bringing me onboard as a junior developer instead of an intern, as he intended, after seeing a couple of my personal projects. After discussing the payment, I resigned from my job at the time and embarked on the journey with him. Interestingly, during the course of the project, my skills increased incredibly, and I ended up becoming the main developer for the project and was loved by the senior developer. Fast forward to today, that leap of faith from my mentor launched me into my tech career, which has been nothing short of amazing. Lesson: Sometimes, all the right person needs is an opportunity, someone to believe in them like they believe in themselves. PS: This is a picture from 2022.

It's 2024 💥. If you're looking for a new gig, as a software engineer, you need to learn to brand yourself! 👇 This simple video brought me a lot of opportunities in a single week. So many I needed to ditch a big part of them and focus on the 3 or 4 I most liked. How to search for a job: - Update your LinkedIn headline to show what you do! Example: Software Engineer (TS/JS/React/Node/Web3) 🏴☠️ - Update your experience to be simple and highlight your strengths 💪 - Update your resume, and have a PDF ready to send in 10 secs 📝 - Do a short video about you! It can have a touch of humor. Try to be original and to show what you're looking for. 🦄 - Show passion, show energy ✨ - Be humble, lower your ego 🙏 Luck happens to those who chase it! ❤️

I've applied to 70 Software Engineering positions in the last 3 days. This is what I've seen so far. ⬇️ 👨🦰 70% of the jobs that I see want Senior Software Engineers. 🐣 25% of the jobs want Juniors with 5 years experience. 💡 5% are fake job ads from scammers that harvest your data. How to mitigate this tom foolery: 🔥 1. Get a past employer to write you an ultra specific glowing letter of reference and attach it to every application before they ask. You are up against thousands of juniors that probably don't have the experience that you already have. Stand out in any way possible. 2. Keep an excel sheet record of every company, contact name, application status and posting link that you have applied to. When you get the return emails, update the status and move on. I've gotten hundreds of rejection emails over the past 2 years. This means nothing to me anymore. This is a game. I've got interviews I didn't even want just so I could practice the process. 3. Fake job ads are easy to spot. They are too vague. They want next to zero experience. They offer too good to be true perks. They over explain the application process. Click through their company listing profile and you'll see 20 ads per day being listed. These scammers sell your data. 4. Set up LinkedIn recruiter visibility. You can set your account to be visible to recruiters WITHOUT having that cringe "looking for work" banner on your profile image. Counterintuitively, if you are "looking for work", you could look like you are not good enough to be employed. Which could hurt your job hunt. 5. If you've been keeping up with personal projects, you have good experience, you've graduated schooling and you have a big network. Your problem isn't more learning, tutorials or bootcamps. You need personal brand marketing in order to get yourself in front of the correct people. You can start YAPPING 🗣🎙 on here and sharing your valuable experience to those people 2 steps behind you, talking to people IRL and messaging people who ACTUALLY make decisions. ⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️ I am documenting every success and failure here in order to blow up my LinkedIn this year. Hello, everyone!🙋♂️ Let’s dive into some tech-talk today!😃 After graduating, I was eager to gain real-world experience in software engineering, whether through full-time work or an internship. However, the job market was incredibly tough.😕 Thankfully, I was fortunate to land a Software Engineer Intern role at ProjectTree 🚀 I chose backend development as the foundation of my career. While it might sound cool, it was far from easy! With so many frameworks, libraries, and languages to pick from, I stuck with what I knew best—Java. For backend development, I used Java with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL for the database, and Gradle as the build tool🧑💻 My first project was building a simple REST API, but as I progressed, the challenges became more complex—like handling many-to-many relationships, writing tests and implementing FIQL to query REST APIs. Yes,all this did really seem intimidating!!😵💫 Fast forward to October 2024 — Things have changed! The tech that looked so difficult and scary is now a part of my daily coding. Engineering is the perfect example of what looks scary and impossible at first is surely the most comforting and easy. And definitely, all this comes from nothing other than EXPERIENCE.⭐️ Consistency is definitely the key..!!💯 #technology #jobs #softwareengineer #coding #programming #java #springboot

I remember my first job as a software developer 😊. I was so excited but also super nervous 😬. I had just graduated with a degree in computer science, and suddenly I was in the real world 🌎. My first day was all about getting set up: installing the right software, configuring my development environment, and setting up email and communication tools 📧💻. It was a lot, but my colleagues were really helpful 🤝. The biggest challenge was learning the codebase. It was HUGE! 😵 I read all the documentation, but it was outdated 📚. So, I asked a ton of questions. At first, I was worried about bothering people, but my colleagues were glad I asked 🙋. Better to ask than make big mistakes, right? After a few months, I started to feel more comfortable. Our team had daily stand-ups, where we'd share what we were working on and ask for help if needed 🗣️. I was shy at first, but I realized everyone had challenges, even the experienced devs. By the end of the year, I'd completed several projects and even led a small feature development 🎉. The roadmap for my first year: keep learning 📚, stay curious 🤔, and don't be afraid to ask for help 💪. #placement #guidance #developer #sde #tips
