I’ve been amazed to see what can happen when businesses prioritize their responsibility to their communities. At the end of the day, there’s potential to uplift the surrounding community, the business, and the people in both. Research shows that 70% of employees feel more engaged when their company is involved in community initiatives. By approaching local communities with an open mind and a willingness to learn, businesses can build trust and foster meaningful relationships. To me, there's nothing more important than earning and maintaining the trust of teams and communities. What better way to do that than by acting with curiosity and sensemaking when engaging in community development? What’s your take? #Community #Innovation #Engagement #Leadership Source: MIT Sloan - How to engage your business in community and economic development.

Often I am asked, why I love local government and while there are too many reasons to list, always near the top is placemaking and community development. It's amazing what we all can do when we embrace what makes us all unique and work together towards common goals. #publicadministration #LocalGov #placemaking #publicprivatepartnership #communitydevelopment #leadership

Community development begins with individuals who have a vision of leaving the world a better place. Each member of a community is a microcosm of the larger system. A community or neighborhood reflects the character of each of its citizens. This is why #FHLIndy focuses on training and education—we believe that strengthening each part of the system enhances the whole. These past two years have been amazing - full of personal and professional growth, amazing partners and new relationships, and working with an all-star team! I can't wait to see what the next two years bring for Creating Community Consulting! #organizationalculture #communitydriven #collaboration #communitygrowth
Part of what makes community-driven work meaningful is the people who we have the privilege to work with. On Friday, June 28th, we celebrated a big milestone – 2 years of collaboration, grassroots community projects, and a growing network of partners across North Dakota and Minnesota. Our friends over at the Frazee-Vergas Forum captured the spirit of the afternoon and our awe in this moment of growth: https://lnkd.in/e9VjvVuV We couldn’t have done this without an amazing team, one that keeps expanding! This month, we welcome four new members to the Creating Community Consulting Family, in a new space in downtown Frazee: Jamie Crabtree, Heather Ware Nelson, Shelly Blauert, and Amy Kilde. They join Karen Dowing and Sophia Strand, alongside Karen Pifher in the amazing community work happening throughout Becker County! Please stop by the office to say hello if you find yourself in the area (especially on a Friday from 2:30-5:30pm) and stay tuned as we share more about our team’s focus areas of work with us this summer and beyond! #CommunityDriven #Grassroots #Collaboration #TeamExpansion #CommunityProjects #Networking #LocalLeadership #CommunityGrowth #NorthDakota #Minnesota #Frazee #BeckerCounty #CommunityConsulting #NewBeginnings #Celebration #CommunityImpact #JoinUs #WelcomeNewMembers #CreatingCommunity #CommunityPartners

𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺 🐊 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝟏: 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 Just like the crocodile teaches us through its actions, every decision has consequences. In community management, the temptation might be to conceal issues, hoping to solve them behind the scenes. However, experience shows that openness often prevents bigger disruptions. Addressing issues transparently can fortify trust and lead to more sustainable resolutions. 🦛 𝙇𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙣 2: 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙣 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 The hippos remind us that a community's power lies in its collective spirit. No community thrives on the efforts of a single individual; it's the unified strength of all its members that fortifies its foundation. Recognizing and harnessing this collective power can make our communities more resilient and effective. 🦁 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝟑: 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐎𝐰𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 From the lion, we learn the importance of focusing on personal and professional growth while respecting others' boundaries. Concentrating on our responsibilities helps avoid unnecessary conflicts and fosters a respectful professional environment. Being like the lion—strong yet respectful—can enhance our contributions and ensure a healthier community dynamic. These natural lessons remind us that effective community management isn't just about strategies and tools; it's about fundamental behaviors that respect, unite, and strengthen our professional ecosystems. Let's discuss how these lessons have played out in your own experiences. #CommunityManagement #Leadership #ProfessionalGrowth #TeamWork
