Invasive Species Centre’s Post

When putting away outdoor items such as patio furniture this fall, be careful to look for egg masses from invasive species such as spotted lanternfly (SLF). SLF will lay their eggs on any surface. These egg masses look like smears of mud. If left to overwinter they will hatch in the spring. If you see SLF egg masses, take photos, scrape them into a plastic bag and report them to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
