We are thrilled to share the final outcomes of the Building European Safe Sport Together (BESST) project. After two years of extensive research, collaboration, and hard work, we’ve reached a milestone: Our key findings reveal that many European sports organisations are still in the early stages of safeguarding readiness. This underscores the critical need to prioritise resources and awareness for effective safeguarding in sports. Our newly published materials provide: 📊 A Modern Definition – A unified and contemporary understanding and terminology of abuse and harassment in sport, defined as "transgressive behaviour". It examines the dynamics that foster such behaviours, identifies obstacles to safeguarding progress, and outlines essential principles for creating safe sports environment. 📈 Research - Key insights on the statuses of European sports organisations, drawn from a comprehensive body of research on publicly available data, interviews, and surveys of diverse sports organisations. 🔧 Frameworks – Step-by-step guidelines and checklists to help sports organisations and event organisers integrate safeguarding standards effectively, including ready-to-use templates, with special emphasis on legal frameworks for event organisers. 📚 Awareness, Education and Framework Toolkits – Customisable templates and training materials designed to support sports organisations and individuals in implementing effective safeguarding practices within their own structures and among their member organisations. Project Coordinator Soenke Schadwinkel highlighted: “Our goal has always been to equip European sports organisations with resources that are not only informative but actionable. We believe the provided toolkits will empower organisations to proactively raise awareness and establish safe environments for everyone involved in sports.” We invite all sports organisations, event organisers, and stakeholders to explore these toolkits, implement them to create a stronger, safer sport culture in Europe and multiply the resources with their networks! 🏘 🌍 ⬇️ Access the resources here: https://lnkd.in/eBKnXXTh Congratulations to all project partners: European Olympic Academies (EOA), IGNITX, Windesheim, UEFA Foundation for Children, NOC*NSF, Olympic Committee of Slovenia and Rudi Hiti Academy 🎉 #BESST #SafeSport #Safeguarding #SportSafety #EOA

🔒 #BESSTProject: Effecting Safeguarding in European Sport 🌍 The Building European Safe Sport Together project, funded by the #Erasmus+, has developed vital resources to help European sports organizations in the implementation of effective safeguarding practices. Led by a consortium of seven organizations, including the #NOC of the Netherlands🇳🇱 and Slovenia🇸🇮, the project was recently discussed at the #EOC Seminar in Budva, Montenegro📍. Aligned with the EOC’s mission to foster #safe, #equal, and #inclusive environments for athletes and to fulfill their potential, inspiring #healthylifestyles across the continent, the BESST project offers newly-released materials based on two years of extensive research and collaboration, marking a significant step towards a safer sports environment across Europe. These resources include: 🔑 A modern definition of abuse and harassment in sport, introducing "#transgressivebehaviour" as a unified term to describe harmful behaviours. 🔑 Frameworks and toolkits for sports organizations to integrate safeguarding practices effectively within their structures and among their members. 🔑 Research findings highlighting the need to prioritize safeguarding measures and drive cultural change towards sport free from harmful behaviours. As highlighted by Daniela Negreda, Advisor at IGNITX, “The BESST project has resonated across Europe, emphasizing the need for accessible, practical resources that empower sports organizations to take immediate action." Soenke Schadwinkel, EOA Project Coordinator, added: “Our goal has always been to equip European sports organisations with resources that are not only informative but actionable. We believe the provided toolkits will empower organisations to proactively raise awareness and establish safe environments for everyone involved in sports.” 🔗To learn more about how to prevent transgressive behaviour and access all the resources, visit the project BESST website 👉https://lnkd.in/eBKnXXTh. 🔗For further support, visit the IOC’s Safe Sport section on Athlete365 or contact 👉safeguardingofficer@olympic.org. Last week, together with the BG Be Active team, we attended the second meeting of the Movement Pills (MP) 2.0 project, led by Uisp Nazionale. This exciting initiative builds on UISP Bologna’s experience of working with pharmacies distributing the MP and local sport clubs, offering two months of free sporting activities to people who present a movement pills box. The goal of MP 2.0 is to transfer the concept and the learnings by piloting the project in Poland, Estonia, Greece, and Bulgaria. The project is supported by European Platform for Sport Innovation (EPSI) and ISCA - International Sport and Culture Association What’s particularly meaningful to me about this project is that back in 2014/2015, after visiting UISP and with their kind permission, I led the development of a more transferable version of MOVEment Pills suitable to be used in multiple countries and multiple settings supporting the global NowWeMove campaign. The international concept combined a tangible "Pills box", having its own prescription and with an online hub of activity ideas to address the most common self-reported barriers to physical activity, such as: - No money - No time - No place The hub provides videos of easy exercises that could be done at home, in the office, in parks, or using simple equipment like benches or stairs. You can check the hub here: https://lnkd.in/d6RzKYnk (videos filmed in Plovdiv, Bulgaria). Since 2015, BG Be Active has been an active implementer of the MOVEment Pills providing various free outdoor trainings. With the 2.0 version, the goal is to test the willingness of the Bulgarian health sector, particularly pharmacies, to support the promotion of Health Enhancing Physical Activity as an easily accessible remedy for all. The MP2.0 project implementation in Bulgaria is led by Svetlana Nencheva #urbanhealth #physicalactivity #beactive

📊 𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕚𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕊ℙ𝕃𝕀𝕊𝕊 𝕣𝕖𝕡𝕠𝕣𝕥 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕨𝕙𝕪 𝕚𝕤 𝕚𝕥 𝕤𝕠 𝕚𝕞𝕡𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕒𝕟𝕥? We are proud that #TeamISG, composed of Grzegorz Botwina, Piotr Popławski, Jakub Fornalik, LL.M. and Rafał Kaszubski, contributed to valuable publication, which we believe will deepen the discussion on sports funding and the challenges it presents. The SPLISS report (Sports Policy factors Leading to International Sporting Success) is an international research project that identifies key factors influencing sporting success on the global stage. It is based on 9 pillars that comprehensively describe the effectiveness of a country's sports system: 1️⃣ 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 – Adequate financial investment is the foundation of success. 2️⃣ 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 – Clear priorities and organizational structures. 3️⃣ 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Sports education and broad public engagement. 4️⃣ 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 – Systems for discovering and developing young athletes. 5️⃣ 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 & 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 – Professionalization of sports and career support for athletes. 6️⃣ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 – Access to proper training conditions. 7️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 – Advancement of coaches and specialists. 8️⃣ (𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿)𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Participation in competitions at various levels. 9️⃣ 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 – Scientific research improving performance and system efficiency. 🔑 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗦 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁? The effectiveness of a sports system is not just about the amount of funding, but how those resources are utilized. The SPLISS report provides a framework for evaluating how well countries manage their investments in sports, which is crucial for long-term success. For Poland, which ranks low in efficiency, the report offers insights on how to improve outcomes not only at the elite sports level but also in mass participation. 🔴⚪️🟠 #ISG #teamISG #Sports #SPLISSReport #Efficiency #SportsPolicy #MassParticipation #EliteSports #Innovation
