We are proud to be part of this wonderful network of Tribal Climate Resilience Liaisons! For more information about North Central liaisons and our region's work, check out our website at https://lnkd.in/gbBbmXAC. #tribal #indigenous #climateliaisons #climatescience #climateadaptationscience #adaptationscience
The Tribal Climate Resilience Liaison Network is a team of Liaisons located throughout the United States who support Tribal Nations and Alaska Native villages in their region to advance adaptation planning and implementation in the face of climate change. Liaisons can: - Help Tribes access information, data, and expertise with the Climate Adaptation Science Centers and elsewhere; - Facilitate research integrating Indigenous Knowledges (IK); and - Support Tribal forums and information exchange. This network is facilitated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs Branch of Tribal Climate Resilience in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Climate Adaptation Science Centers and regional Tribal Organizations or alternative partner institutions: Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) The Chickasaw Nation United South and Eastern Tribes Native American Fish & Wildlife Society College of Menominee Nation Sustainable Development Institute GREAT PLAINS TRIBAL WATER ALLIANCEINC University of Oklahoma University of Alaska Fairbanks Northwest Climate Adaptation Science Center Southwest Climate Adaptation Science Center Northeast Climate Science Center Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center Midwest Climate Adaptation Science Center South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center North Central Climate Adaptation Science Center (NC CASC) View the NEW 2024 network handout and bios to get to know each regional Liaison. #GICNetwork #ClimateChange and #Conflict in the Ruzizi Plain #DRC Research Report This report is based on a case study on the links between climate change and conflict dynamics in the Ruzizi Plain, South Kivu, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The study has been conducted as part of the interdisciplinary KLIMSEC project. The aim of this case study is to provide contextual, empirical knowledge by focusing on the way local communities experience the complex interlinkages between climate change related environmental distress and conflict dynamics in the Ruzizi Plain located in South Kivu Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) – a region which has for decades been affected by varying degrees of instability and insecurity. The report discusses the way in which climate change effects play out locally in South Kivu’s Ruzizi Plain, and how they interact with, add to, or alter existing conflict dynamics in this territory. It has found that both sudden onset climate change impacts, such as flooding, and slow onset impacts, such as drought and changing vegetation patterns, aggravate livelihood vulnerabilities and existing tensions over resources within Ruzizi Plain communities. Honoured to have taken part in this Research Project!🙏 Link: https://lnkd.in/d5dJsspb

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe has released an RFP for a Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment (attached). The Tribe seeks proposals from qualified and experienced consultants to provide a detailed climate vulnerability assessment to inform the Tribe’s climate adaptation and resilience planning efforts. This assessment will be focused on climate vulnerabilities of key species and habitats located across the Tribe's ancestral lands, which encompass the Tribe’s cultural and natural resources. We hope that you will consider submitting a proposal and/or share with your network. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to set up a meeting to learn more. All correspondence shall be directed through Brenda Campbell, Climate Program Manager at brenda.campbell@snoqualmietribe.us and RFPs must be submitted by 5pm on September 16, 2024. #climatechangevulnerabilityassessment #RFP #climatechange

Climate change risks are intricate and interconnected, with impacts spanning through natural and human systems in unpredictable ways. Exploring these interconnections through a One Health and climate change perspective is crucial for science-based adaptation. Canada's Climate Science 2050 Report serves as a comprehensive national synthesis essential for building a resilient, carbon-neutral Canada. Section 5.5 of the report delves into a critical research topic on One Health and Climate Change Nexus Science, emphasizing the urgency of addressing this knowledge gap. Grateful for the collaboration of eight departments and agencies in supporting the CFIA to develop this pivotal section. #climateadaptation, #OneHealth. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dbrK7TBu

The SCORE Project will be present at the Waves of Change Forum in Biarritz for the second consecutive year. This time we will have the opportunity to present the Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) methodology developed by NAIDER and used in the European Project. CBA provides a picture of the overall benefits versus costs of investing in nature-based solutions to climate change risks, thus facilitating decision-making in this type of project. The presentation will take place on 4 June at 16:30 at the Espace Bellevue Biarritz. The Waves of Change Forum will take place from 3 to 5 June and will bring together international blue and green economy experts: https://lnkd.in/dzHyH5hp #CostBenefitAnalysis #NatureBasedSolutions SCORE - Smart Control of the Climate Resilience in European Coastal Cities Salem Gharbia Iulia Anton Waves of Change Coalition Nicolas Occhiminuti
