Over the past three decades, international women’s and feminist movements have been instrumental in integrating women’s rights into global development agendas. In Uganda, the#16dayscampaign is an opportunity to address the unique challenges women and girls face, especially in rural areas where limited access to justice, education, and healthcare escalates vulnerability to GBV. In Support for #Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in #Sub-Saharan Africa: A New Index Based on World Values Survey Data. Highlighting the fact that addressing attitudes is essential to achieving sexual and reproductive health and rights (#SRHR) in accordance with the 2030 Agenda, the paper's goal was to create a comprehensive index that would measure an individual's support for SRHR. There is limited access to accurate and reliable information on sexual and reproductive health available among Kenyan young people that can empower them to make informed choices and decisions. This is compounded by barriers to access reproductive health services. TICAH understands the role and power of information. We provide women and girls with accurate information on SRHR and referrals to safe and reliable services. We work with like-minded, reliable partners to advocate for the implementation of SRHR policies that ensure young people, women and girls access safe and reliable information and services to enable them to make informed choices and decisions. Wafaa understands firsthand the challenges of being a woman in a conflict zone. She emphasizes how crucial it is for sexual and reproductive health services to be accessible and available, and the transformative difference they can make in people's lives. 🌎 Around the world, people living through humanitarian crises experience the fear and hardship of not having basic necessities like menstrual pads, being unable to access contraceptives to prevent unintended pregnancies, or lacking safe spaces to give birth. 📢 Europe must step up to provide critical funding to ensure the efficiency and sustainability of humanitarian responses. The UN Joint Programme, 2gether 4 SRHR, aims to ensure access to quality sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and services for all in the East and Southern Africa region. Part of that work is to document and share #bestpractices, lessons and experiences across the region, which we do through the 2gether 4 SRHR Knowledge Hub! The Hub is a one-stop shop for policymakers, practitioners and researchers working in the region. Yesterday was World Population Day 2024! In a year of 64 elections globally, UNFPA, WHO, UNICEF, UNAIDS, and UN Women have released a statement emphasising the need for governments to commit to advancing sexual and reproductive health, rights, and bodily autonomy. "In April, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, governments renewed their commitment and determination to accelerate the implementation of the Programme of Action of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), the principles of which are embedded in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including commitments to ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services and to advance reproductive rights." We must continue to advance menstrual health - it is the start of the SRH journey for many and unlocks opportunities to build self-efficacy, bodily autonomy, and health literacy in a global environment that is seeing consistent push back on SRHR! Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) underpins the rights of women and girls to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. But in Nigeria, women and girls, especially in vulnerable and rural communities do not have the freedom to make decisions about their bodies and also face poor access to services that meet their sexual and reproductive health needs. Here are some key roles and responsibilities of UNFPA: *Promoting reproductive rights: Advocating for the right of all people to voluntarily decide the number and timing of their children. *Reducing maternal mortality: Supporting programs to improve maternal health care and reduce the number of deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth. *Providing family planning services: Helping governments deliver family planning services, including contraception and sexual health education. *Addressing gender-based violence: Leading programs to prevent, respond to, and mitigate gender-based violence. *Supporting youth development: Promoting the rights and well-being of young people, including through comprehensive sexuality education. *Collecting and analyzing population data: Supporting countries in using population data to inform policies and programs.
