HiPowAR and CAMPFIRE were presented by Dr Angela Kruth (INP) and Olga Ravkina (IKTS) at the Research and Innovation Working Group Workshop of the German Chemical Industry Association Northeast (VCI Nordost) at YARA Rostock. The meeting focused on the potential uses of ammonia for the energy transition and the decarbonization of the industry, with the price and scalability of the technologies being crucial to the success of the transformation solutions. Super proud to have attended as speaker at the excellent ZeroPM Symposium on elimination of #PFAS in drinking water Exhaling on the train, sorting all new knowledge of PFAS treatment solutions into the right head space. Because no suprise, as Sarah Hale stod as lead organizer, this ZeroPM PFAS event was super interesting, super well executed and offered a lot of new interesting contacts and possible partners, as well as taught me new things. NGI - Norwegian Geotechnical Institute , you had no idea letting that girl go. My talk presented the sustainable as well as beautiful technology #SAFF - Surface Active #FoamFractionation, the latest results from treatment of PFAS impacted ground and leachate water using SAFF, and the results from combining it with additives for enhanced short chain PFAS removal. But also results and predicted cost from destruction trials of the PFAS concentrate produced by SAFF, using Electro chemical oxidation, Photo activated reductive deflourination and Cold plasma. This as there are so many super heroes and wonder woman working / fighting the war against PFAS, and doing it so well and clever. A special high five to Fiona Rückbeil from our EU H2020 sister project PROMISCES, who gave an excellent presentation on their work comparing different filter technologies in lab, pilot and full scale. Really interesting and well presented. Can't wait to read the final report. And with these performance from both ZeroPM and Promisces, the pressure is on for us in SCENARIOS Project EU , but thats the way we like it 💪👊. Right team? 😎

InnoTech Alberta recently hosted CarboMat Inc., a successful candidate in the Carbon Fibre Grand Challenge. Project lead Shafiq Irfan and his team worked with InnoTech’s principal researcher TriDung(T.-D.) Ngo, Ph.D. and technologist Imaad-Al-Deen Umar to spin fibre from asphaltene feedstock provided by Carbomat. Next step - the fibre is carbonized and strength tested to help determine its application and end use. This highlights how industry utilizes InnoTech facilities and expertise to move ideas and technologies toward commercialization. Our capabilities will expand with the opening of a specialized carbon fibre production facility later this year. #CarbonFibre #CFGC #Asphaltene

📢 EU project LIGNICOAT joins the ExpandFibre Ecosystem! 🌲LIGNICOAT BBI Project, funded by the Bio-based Industries JU (BBI JU) under the Horizon 2020 funding programme, seeks to demonstrate the technical, economic and environmental viability of innovative routes to produce lignin-derived bioresins for coatings and validate the new processes at pilot scale in an industrially relevant environment. 🌲Michele Ponzelli, Ph.D., who is leading the dissemination, communication and exploitation activities for the project, told us more about LIGNICOAT, which is perfectly aligned with the themes of the ExpandFibre Ecosystem and Programmes.
