This week brought a distinctive space for the youth. Our delegates brought them the voice of the young and promising soon to be healthcare providers, from all corners of the region, but were also able to make the value of their presence known to the world, which is the importance of youth in health. Taking their turn in addressing the veterans and experienced health leaders, our delegates offered solutions to the urgent public health concerns and equally strategised on the sustainable development of the Western Pacific. Ladies and gentleman, let us continue to raise our voices and bring about change! #ExcelWithAPRO #IPSFAPRO #IPSForg

I recently attended an insightful lecture by Dr. Francis Ohanyido, Director General of the West African Institute of Public Health, on "Policy Shaping for Health Development." Here are the key takeaways: - Dr. Ohanyido emphasized the need for health policies to consider social, economic, and environmental factors for effective health outcomes. - He highlighted the importance of community engagement and cultural sensitivity in health policy-making to empower communities and improve health outcomes. - Dr. Ohanyido stressed the necessity of using reliable data to inform evidence-based and targeted health policies. - Effective health policies must be sustainable, backed by strong political will, and adequately funded. Strategies like public-private partnerships are crucial for long-term investment. - Digital health solutions have transformative potential. Dr. Ohanyido shared inspiring examples of tech-driven health interventions in West Africa. - Ensuring equitable access to healthcare services is essential. Policies must prioritize vulnerable populations to reduce health disparities. Dr. Ohanyido's lecture reinforced the importance of well-crafted policies in improving public health. I'm inspired to apply these insights in my work. Thank you, Dr Francis O. @Waaph_Adovocate @TheWaaph #YPPH24 #HLLP24 #UHC #WAIPH #healthliteracy #healthadvocates #Policydevelopment #HealthPolicy

This week we participated in the 15th Annual Neglected Tropical Disease NGO Network (NNN) Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 🌏🤝 Our team member Fiona Allan joined NTD practitioners, government leaders, researchers, and policymakers from over 50 countries to address challenges and solutions for NTD elimination. This year's theme, "Collaboration for Change: Fostering Global Equity and Strengthening Community Engagement in NTDs," emphasised global equity, regional collaboration, and community-level partnerships. Fiona focused on two key subthemes: 1. Cross-Sectoral Streams: Exploring NTD initiative integration with broader health and development agendas. 2. Health Systems Strengthening and Capacity Building: Discussing ways to bolster health system capabilities for more effective NTD management. A highlight was the workshop "One Health approaches for one health communities: Taking a community perspective to cross-sector Health Systems Strengthening". Fiona helped facilitate group discussions during this session, led by Gabby Laing Dr Gabrielle Laing from Unlimit Health (formerly SCI Foundation), who chairs the NNN One Health Cross-Cutting Group. Fiona's key takeaways from the conference: 1. Data challenges across sectors: Participants discussed common barriers in merging datasets, differing priorities, high costs of data collation, issues with data quality and trust, insufficient collection frequency, and capacity gaps in data handling. 2. The value of equity: While reaching marginalized communities can be costlier, their higher unmet needs and worse outcomes often result in better cost-effectiveness when targeting these underserved populations. We're inspired by the collaborative spirit and innovative approaches shared at #NNN2024. Together, we can #BeatNTDs and build a healthier future for all! #GlobalHealth #OneHealth #NeglectedTropicalDiseases #CollaborationForChange

Principle of organized individual endeavor – set a very definite procedure through which an individual may promote himself into whatever station he desires, or acquire whatever, material things he wishes. Following are five major steps: definiteness of purpose or objective; creation of a plan for the attainment of the objective; Continuous action in carrying out a plan, alliance with those who will cooperate in carrying out the plan and moving at all times, on one’s initiative. Digital Health – Planning National System employs such principle – in which digital health experts from around the world meet to learn, share experiences, and discuss various health challenges facing the health sector in different countries. Such an alliance combined with the great leadership from #techChange #USAID is a guaranteed success. I am proud to have gone through the hours to learn and exchange with fellow experts from around the world. #ITU #WHO #lastmilehealth #digitalsquare World Health Organization USAID

🏥🩺💶 Unlocking Resources for Health Investments Across the European Union As part of the project team at Expertise France, I had the privilege of contributing to the EU Health Resources Hub (2022-2024). Funded by the European Union through the European Commission’s Technical Support Instrument and implemented in partnership with the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, this project provided essential support to Austria, Belgium, and Slovenia to: ▶ Strengthen capacity for advocating public health investments; ▶ Pilot the concept of an EU Health Hub, a support platform empowering Member States to optimize their health reforms through targeted, tailored solutions; ▶ Assist in designing and implementing necessary health reforms and improving financing by identifying relevant EU funding opportunities. This experience marked my first steps in project development and European cooperation on social protection. Working alongside dedicated partners, beneficiaries, and collaborators taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, cooperation, and innovation. I am confident that the Health Hub will make a lasting impact for our European citizens! 🎥 Watch this video to learn more about this multi-country initiative and our vision for a Health Resources Hub to support all Member States in the future! ⤵

Last October, on the margins of the #WorldHealthSummit, we and International SOS convened a multisectoral panel of experts to discuss progress made in leveraging the wider private sector towards achieving #globalhealth goals. The panel highlighted the importance of public-private sector engagement and called for a new model to leverage private sector expertise and resources to accelerate joint action and deliver impactful solutions on a larger scale. Five key themes emerged from the discussion, providing a roadmap for greater collaboration across sectors and industries to achieve more together, faster: - Build an Environment of Trust: Establishing shared goals and a common vision between sectors is essential to fostering trust and collaboration in global health. - Take a Longer-Term View: By adopting a longer-term perspective, public and private sectors can work together to build a resilient and adaptive ecosystem that addresses global health challenges in a sustained and impactful manner. - Create Innovative Structures for Implementing Strategic Projects: Create innovative approaches whereby multilaterals, private sector, and development banks implement strategic projects, working closely with local governments and other delivery organizations. - Involve the Private Sector Early: Bring private sector delivery partners in early and engage them through the transparent sharing of data. - Build Capacity & Transfer Knowledge: Collaborative efforts can focus on building and strengthening the capacity of both the public and private sectors. We extend thanks to our moderator Isabelle Hagner, and expert panelists Charlotte S. Schmidt, Dr. Alois Dörlemann, Joy Phumaphi, Marco Annas, and Jürgen Kretz for their participation and thoughtful comments.
