Who’s the training organisation ? Where’s the regulator in the unregulated height safety industry manufacturing, installations, resellers and trainers ? Failure of code of conduct and code of ethics. Nobody held accountable for gross misconduct and gross negligence. Manufactures selling and promoting unsafe and non-complaint roof safety anchor systems, unethical, not sustainable and not safe. The same non-complaint manufactures not only falsifying compliance requirements, but also providing misleading installation instructions and requirements, including unethical product training and practices. The same non-complaint manufacturers attempting to manipulate falls code refrenced standards so that unsafe non-complaint products can become compliant “words on a page” won’t cut it. !! Attempting to make major changes to current policy rather than making the unregulated industry regulated. The solution is simple: a) have the unregulated height safety industry regulated, including manufacturers, installers, promoters, resellers, trainers & alike under current laws, regulations, rights and obligations. Noby cares anymore, with falls from heights the biggest killer in industry, no industry trust and no responsible regulators.
Working Safely at Heights course. 3/6/2024 7:30am-2pm. morning break. lunch break. Minimal, irrelevant theory. Minimal, irrelevant practical. nothing on safe use of anchors, redirection, pendulum etc etc etc Signed off as competent. head out tomorrow, work safely at heights, apparently. I'm astounded that after 20 years in the industry this is what the RTO's are delivering and then deeming trainees competent and sending them out live. It is frightening, I believe that those trainees are now more danger to themselves than before they started because they believe they are competent, and they are not, far from it. Yep, those anchors, static lines etc, they're going to work just fine...meanwhile the untrained fall to their deaths or sustain serious injury because they don't know how to use them. We need to start advocating for proper training.....real training. IRATA L1 takes a week, a hard core week with very little room for error or you fail. Who's accountable for this? #workingatheights #falls #heightsafety #waha

I made the front cover of the IRATA WASA report! The saying goes: the wise learn from others, the average learn from themselves, the rest don't learn! We like to think of ourselves as wise, and hopefully we are, though we should not restrict that wisdom to just learning from others. We need to provide others the information to also learn from our mistakes. The reporting and sharing of incidents, near misses, good catches, the unforeseen, or anything else that had the potential to hurt, harm, or damage, gives others the chance to learn from it. These things should not be treated as a point of shame or embarrassment, to be hidden away and never talked about. To care for others, to look out for work colleagues and friends, we need to share our mistakes so they can seek wisdom, hopefully learn and not get injured in the same way. As a climber, training people to work at height is fascinating - bringing them into my world, but making sure it is clear enough for them to understand and put into practice safely. With all the different trades I meet, relating to their work is key. Training courses often focus on the technical or complicated aspects, but it can be the simple things that make the biggest difference – take Work Restraint for example, it always seems like a missed or lost opportunity to me as it is rarely the first choice! If you use your lanyard for protection the difference between Work Restraint and Fall Arrest can simply be clipping further back from the edge, shortening it, or choosing a shorter one. Rope Access Workers can also do the same, clipping further back while they rig their ropes. Work Restraint can be restrictive, however if you are still able do your job and WR prevents falls with no need for post fall rescue, what’s not to like? Everyone who can avoid falls at work should. While it’s unlikely that you can use restraint for all your work, it shouldn’t mean you forget about it altogether. https://lnkd.in/gAtRezYF #NoFallsWeek #TrustTheExperts #TrustSpanSet

Providing occupational Health and Safety material in the subject "championship basics" majoring in airframe engineering and powerplant that is worked on in groups can increase feelings of tolerance between students and stimulate students to exchange ideas and be active in group work... PS : sorry for the English translation... the translation sometimes sucks

Elevating Safety Standard: Working At Height Yesterday, I completed Working At Height Awareness Training at UDTP, INSTEP - Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS. To simplify my training here are the keywords to easily understand the basics in WAH: 1. Preparation: Before working, work procedures must be done in order to analyse hazards we are exposed to when working through JHA and apply for PTW (Permit To Work). 2. PPE: Mandatory PPE consists of coverall, safety glasses, gloves, safety helmet and safety boots must be worn at all time during working. 3. Fall Protection Equipment: Proper use of fall protection such as harness and lanyard is important! choose proper equipment based on work requirement. 4. 3-Point Contact: Maintain 3-point contact at all time when in higher elevation, when using ladder, holds a different step with each contact point. 5. Anchor point: Anchor point is a fall protection method. When reaching high elevation, we must secure our anchor point and ensure stable body position before changing anchor point and avoid removing multiple anchor points at a time. 6. Training/ Certification: Training for WAH prepares workers with the technical knowledge and methods of executing the work safely also, exposing posible hazards when working to workers and the control measure taken to overcome the hazards. Safety is important! Not only to meet the industry requirements, but also for us to come back home safely. #oilandgas #workingatheight #petronas #safetyawareness #safetyculture
