The Challenge: Africa's next generation needs skills and knowledge to navigate a complex and digital world. Modernizing our educational systems to include digital literacy, critical thinking, and adaptability is crucial. Call to Action: - Governments: Invest in education infrastructure, teacher training, and digital technologies - Educational Institutions: Integrate 21st-century skills into curricula and embrace innovative teaching methods - Private Sector: Fund scholarships, infrastructure projects, and technology initiatives - Civil Society Organizations: Promote education and advocate for policies that support educational improvements - Individuals: Volunteer, stay informed, and advocate for necessary changes. Today, I want to shine the spotlight on SEED Care & Support Foundation who is revolutionizing education with innovative approaches and a commitment to excellence. 🌍 Happy Africa Day! 🌍 Today, we commemorate the foundation of the Organization of African Unity on 25 May 1963, celebrating the unity and progress of our beautiful continent. This year's theme, “Education Fit for the 21st Century," highlights the pivotal role of education in driving Africa's socio-economic transformation and innovation. Education is the cornerstone for Africa's growth and development. By focusing on education fit for the 21st century, we are equipping the next generation with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate and thrive in an increasingly complex and digital world. This aligns perfectly with Agenda 2063, the African Union’s strategic framework for the continent’s socio-economic transformation. As we celebrate Africa Day, the AU has made suggestions and a call upon all stakeholders to join in this transformative journey: 🔹 Governments: Allocate more resources to education, especially in infrastructure, teacher training, and digital technologies. Implement policies that promote inclusive and equitable education, ensuring no child is left behind. 🔹 Educational Institutions: Integrate 21st-century skills into curricula and embrace innovative teaching methods that cater to the digital age. Partner with other institutions and organizations to share best practices and resources. 🔹 Private Sector: Fund scholarships, infrastructure projects, and technology initiatives that enhance educational quality and accessibility. This year's theme for Africa day is 'Educate an African fit for the 21st century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.' It is everyone's job to ensure that our educational systems are aligned with the ever-changing digital world we live in. Let us not be ignorant, but rather keep up with the 21st century educational systems. Every African child has the ability to prosper if they are provided with the skills and knowledge required to navigate the digital world. This is consistent with the AU's Agenda 2063, which places education at the heart of creating a successful Africa based on inclusivity and sustainable development. At the recent #UNGA event "Scaling Success: Advancing Foundational Literacy and Numeracy through Partnerships and Innovation in Africa," Zambian President, and Foundational Learning Champion in Africa, H.E. Hakainde Hichilema, delivered a powerful message on the urgent need to prioritize education across the continent.
