August scientific article now available to download: Title: Novel MR acceleration methods Author(s): Mike Hutton Hospital: Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust A quiet revolution has taken place in MRI over the past two years, with the introduction into routine clinical practice of so-called MR advanced acceleration technology (MR AAT), promising vast reductions in acquisition times and the potential to scan more patients without impacting image quality and without the need to purchase additional MRI systems and employ more staff. The potential benefits for patients and MRI departments are huge. The technology has played a part in the NHS England and Improvement (NHSEI) plan for recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in some parts of England, helping NHS trusts to provide additional MR imaging capacity quickly and in a cost-effective way. This began in December 2021 when MR AAT became widely available in England through an NHSEI initiative to procure the technology across two regions of the country, with the new AI technology being heralded as the game changer for MRI. https://lnkd.in/euTVCum2 #RADMagazine #medicalimaging #healthcare #medical #radiology #MRI

As Glaucoma Awareness week drew to a close yesterday here in the UK, our Chief Medical Officer Gustavo De Moraes, MD, PhD, MPH and Medical Director Europe Doina Gherghel, MD PhD EMBA was in London attending the ICORG 2024 Alumni Meeting at Western Eye Hospital, part of our partners the North West London Alliance. Gus passionately states, "Despite major developments in diagnostics and treatment, glaucoma remains the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. This can only be changed through training of eye care providers, wider access to diagnostic imaging modalities, safer and more effective surgical options, and neuroprotective therapies. Ora is actively working in all these areas. Very few companies and organizations can make that claim, and we are optimistic about reversing the current scenario of the glaucoma burden worldwide." Ora is at the forefront, working with industry leaders to drive innovation and push boundaries to combat glaucoma.. Together, we can envision a future with clearer vision for all. #Ora #Ophthalmology #GlaucomaAwarenessWeek #EyeHealth #Innovation #VisionForAll

Looking forward to giving an invited talk next month at the 2024 Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA (Nov. 14-17), on the topic : "Wires and Valves". Pediatric robotics is a highly challenging area requiring different size-scales of interventional devices compared to adults. This meeting should make for some robust discussion and exchange of ideas of challenges and opportunities for engineering, and medical robotics in particular, in the area of pediatric devices. https://lnkd.in/emTVriEG

This is a very interesting question. I am surprised it has not been looked at yet. RDM Systems are very useful and widely available, but I am not sure how widely they are used. I look forward to seeing the results of this survey.
Kind invitation for radiation protection leaders, medical physicists, and radiographers across Australia to participate in a survey that aims to explore the current practices of CT dose data collection/analysis in radiology departments across Australia and examine their experiences with using Radiation Dose Monitoring Software (RDMS) tools in CT.
