🚨 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲: 𝐃𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 "𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲" 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫. If we only focus on teaching the swimmer not to drown (stay near the edge, wear a life vest), we end up clashing with their overall goals. 🏊🏻♀️ 🤔 I appreciate Sidney Dekker's analogy of the swimmer when discussing competency and common sense versus compliance and control. Yet, I often see videos of 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 🐎 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 that can lead to severe injuries or worse. We have many safety tools at our disposal—some are new and flashy, others might seem a bit dated. But it's not about new vs. old. A transdisciplinary approach creates a richer tapestry of controls, supporting both safe work and efficiency. And let's be honest, 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬. 🚌 I fully understand "context": 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬; 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬. However, I often question some people's judgment in these videos. Any activity where a single mistake is unsurvivable needs to be addressed immediately. Where does discipline fit in your safety walk? Thoughts? 𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀! 💡 Take care 🚧 SAFT3RD 🚧 #safety #insurance #business #humanresources #management OSHA SafetyLeadership ContinuousImprovement

Do you easily miss the opportunity to take a break from your desk and add to your step count? 📉 Time to put a full stop to it! Typical trap: Thinking there's NO time for steps at work🚫 Do these three things to fix it: 🥇Firstly, take breaks. Short walks will do wonders, trust me. 🥈Aim for walking meetings if possible. 🥉Bound up the stairs instead of the lift. Remember, every step counts. Set yourself a goal of how many steps you want to achieve today and DM me for help and accountability 🔥 #stepcount #takeabreak #freshair #takethestairs #walkingbreaks #walking #getlastingresults #fuellingyourfitnessfirst #growthmindset #embracetheprocess #opportunity #shortwalks #essexpt #chelmsfordpt #brentwoodpt #onlinefitnesscoaching #personalised #customisedplan #leaveyourdesk #leaveyourdeskbehind #leaveyourdeskforlunch Website: www.jamesfrithpt.co.uk

One thing I've learnt from goal specific training is... That there's sacrifice to be made. If you're a busy individual, with a hectic schedule and training for an event then you likely don't have the time to diversify your training style because of time constraints. Lets take marathon training as an example... The natural inclination will be to just run; Run further, faster and more efficiently as training develops. This makes sense doesn't it. However running alone doesn't develop a future-proofed, injury free, well oiled body. It can often do the opposite. Our bodies aren't designed to run long distances be we have the mental ability to condition ourselves to do this. Whether you're event training or not, you need an holistic approach that includes strength work, zone 2 base building, zone 4/5 heart rate working flexibility and mobility training. This is the best solution for longevity moving forward. Now, the challenge is finding a way to fit this in to your hectic schedule. It can be done. Drop me a message if you'd like me to analyse your schedule and offer my suggestion on who you can do this. #training #workout #exercise #longevity

You see all these bikemen that feel like James Bond or like they were playing a game of Russian roulette? it's only God that'll judge them🤧. I had my fair share of the game this morning... I survived the speedy bike ride with a bike man who thought he was in "Tour de France!" I held on tight and kept reminding him to slow down...😟, I later got to my destination safely, but it got me thinking... Safety is like wearing a helmet - it may not be the coolest thing, but it's a game-changer! So, here's the deal: there are so many advantages of Prioritizing safety: -Boosts well-being -Enhances focus -Increases productivity -Fosters work-life balance Below are some best practices or guides to follow to ensure safety: -Stay alert and aware -Take calculated risks -Speak up when uncertain -Embrace a safety-first mindset You are your greatest asset! Invest in your safety, and watch your life and work thrive! Have a great week🫠! #MondayMotivation #SafetyFirst #ProductivityTips #WellnessAtWork #WorkLifeBalance #MotivationMonday #SuccessTips" ps; this was how I felt my heart beating this morning 😄😣👇

Training by effort is a more intuitive style that prioritizes how your body feels. It might be useful for #runners frustrated by strict #paces and metrics. Rather than relying solely on the numbers from your watch, this approach encourages you to tune in to your body’s signals. #running #health #wellness #marathontraining #marathon https://lnkd.in/gCNZTnwy

A message to all our members running the Manchester Marathon tomorrow or London next week (or both if you're Becki Wilson 🤯) Here's wishing you the good luck that you don't need. This is what you've trained for. Those winter mornings and dark nights. You've got this, enjoy your moment. A couple of last minute tips from us: 1) Remove any stress from tomorrow morning. If not done already, lay out everything you need. Clothes, rqce number, safety pins, headphones, watch, fuel, drop bag with warm clothes, food for after. 2) Trim those toe nails. 3) Stay hydrated. Drink lots, but through the day, not too much before bed. 4) Eat a good amount of carbs, but don't go mad now. You don't want to be feeling too heavy tomorrow. 5) Take it easy. Low physical and mental stress is the order of the day. You cant add fitness now, ensure you only do anything very easy and short if you feel you need a loosener. 6) Recap on your training, put this in your mental 'cookie jar' to dig into when things get tough. and of course share how you get on, we can't wait to hear your stories, successes and learning!
