In this series, I bring a question clients have brought into the coaching space & share how they resolved it. ‘Natalia’--a leader with a thriving team, working in a large organization that is driven by urgency–has been trying to change her relationship to time; to cultivate space to reflect, plan, rest and restore. On a daily basis, she’s in back-to-back meetings and responding to one ‘urgent’ matter after another. So, she comes up with a ‘Do I Need to Give a F**k?’ checklist, to help her figure out what to say no to. **Do I need to give a f**k matrix?** How much do I care about this & why? Will I care about this 5 years from now? Do other people think this is a problem or just me? What, if anything, can I do to mitigate how it impacts me and the people I care about? Feeling isolated? Tackle the symptoms of feeling isolated in a group coaching cohort starting Monday February 12 for six sessions.. A common trait among creative types, those who are pioneering something new, and innovative leaders is that they are able to imagine new possibilities that others might not be able to see. They are able to forge a path where there is often no path to follow, They are dreamers who ‘can do.’ However, the flip side is that it can be a lonely and painful place. Loneliness can stem from various factors such as not being understood, the weight of responsibility, the pressure to perform, the fear of vulnerability, the lack of peer support, the need to maintain a public image, and the absence of genuine human connections. This coaching group will help you explore different ways of mitigating the effects of loneliness, develop self-care strategies as well as action steps to create your own personal support network with others. Through this cohort, you will feel seen and heard as you create practical steps for building community with others in a group setting. What are the skills needed to be an effective physician leader in the modern healthcare setting? Over the past 2 weeks I have highlighted communication and collaboration. This week I will focus on vision. One of the key elements of being a leader is creating a vision for the direction in which their team will go. Usually this vision is part of the organization's mission/vision. However, each leader should create a vision for their team to strive toward which complements the organizational vision. A well communicated vision gives the team a sense of purpose and helps to inspire and motivate. It is the team's "why".
