With just 48 left until the submission deadline, hear from Kei Yamada, 2024-2025 ISMRM Program Chair, about submitting education material for the 2025 ISMRM & ISMRT Annual Meeting & Exhibition: "Educational posters? Yes, we do review those as well! We recently received an inquiry from one of the radiology trainees about whether we accept educational materials. Yes, we do! Please feel free to submit your work. The general rule is that it must be unpublished material, and the abstract will undergo a regular review process. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the acceptance of your abstract, but why not give it a try? When submitting, please note that there is no separate category for educational material. Instead, choose one of the body parts, such as neuro, body, etc. Upon acceptance, we will most likely place them in the exhibition hall as a traditional paper poster, where it will remain for viewing throughout the week. Please spread the word so that we can have more clinician colleagues joining the Hawaii meeting!" Our primary role as radiographers is to produce images that give the reviewer the best possible chance to diagnose potential pathology. In this quest we often forget about our chief stakeholders in the exchange - the patient experience. We are the face of the profession, the first port of call, and interactions, whether positive or negative, can leave a lasting impact on the perception of our field as a whole. In the latest ISRRT webinar, Steve Lacey sat down with Dr Emma Hyde National Teaching Fellow, PhD,MEd,BSc (Hons) to discuss her enthralling study on taking person centred approaches to care in diagnostic imaging. Her work impresses that this area still needs improvement and has some great suggestions that all radiographers would do well to take on board. She and her colleague, via the University of Derby, have also created a free educational tool kit (https://lnkd.in/geUYZFEW) for self-audit practice as well as brushing up on these fundamental skills. It may also serve as a possible preparation for students embarking on clinical placement, an element that institutions may want to incorporate into their coursework. I will definitely be making use of the resource ahead of my next placement block. #medicalimaging #radiography #personcentredcare #professionaldevelopment #clinicalplacement

Hello LinkedIn Community, I am excited to share an opportunity to contribute to a valuable research project for a friend's master's thesis! They are conducting a survey to assess the ability of individuals to read and understand ultrasound images. Whether you have a medical background or are a layperson, your participation is crucial. What is this survey about? This survey aims to evaluate how well people can interpret ultrasound images and how frequently they encounter them. The insights gained will help improve educational materials and training programs. Why should you participate? Contribute to Research: Your input will directly impact the development of better training tools for understanding ultrasound images. Be Part of a Study: Engage with a research project that bridges the gap between medical imaging and public understanding. Support a Student: Help my friend complete their master's thesis with robust and comprehensive data. Who can participate? Everyone! Whether you have experience with ultrasound images or not, your perspective is valuable. How to participate: Click the link below to fill out the short survey. It will only take a few minutes of your time. 👉https://lnkd.in/ez3nnPUn Thank you in advance for your time and contribution. Please feel free to share this post with your network to help us reach as many participants as possible. Let's make a difference together! #Research #Survey #MastersThesis #Ultrasound #MedicalImaging #Participation #Education #Training

Ultimately a training course is only as good as its faculty. This clip from Shounuck Patel, DO, one of the faculty at the Regenerative Medicine and MSK Ultrasound Course, perfectly captures our expert multidisciplinary faculty (surgeons, physiatrists, therapists, family practice sports, interventional pain) hard at work teaching....and then brainstorming in the evenings on how to teach better!

𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁! Radiology residents often ask their peers, more senior residents, fellows, and faculty for guidance on how to prepare for rotations and what resources are considered most high yield for improving medical knowledge and understanding while on rotation. With this in mind, the APDR has created 3 "Rotation Guides" for the most common rotations that programs provide to their residents - one for the resident's first rotation, one for the resident's second rotation, and one for the resident's third rotation (R2 and R3 guides coming soon). These guides contain a prioritized list of top goals and objectives with the associated core competency areas parenthetically indicated at the end of each one. We aim to review these every two years in order to ensure up to date content. https://lnkd.in/gjCDZzct #RadPD #RadEd #RadRes #RadPCs

Short wave diathermy (SWD) It is another deep-heating thermal modality, and it is probably the best thermal modality available to the practitioner.148 It is also a modality about which many practitioners have significant reservations, some of which are well founded and others are not. SWD uses short wave (10 to 100 MHz) electromagnetic energy to cause an increase in tissue temperature. To avoid radiofrequency interference with communications frequencies, the Federal Communications Commission regulates the frequencies of SWD available and has allocated three frequencies for medical use (13.56, 27.12, and 40.68 MHz). SWD devices are not commonly found in athletic health care facilities, and we rarely spend much time on these modalities in our education programs. In fact, many of those teaching modality courses have never used diathermy on a patient. In many cases, diathermy education consists of a brief discussion of indications and effects and a more pointed discussion of the risks, contraindications, and precautions. The net result is that many practitioners are unfamiliar with diathermy and are apprehensive about using it on their patients. Likewise, we have been taught (incorrectly) that ultrasound can produce similar effects with considerably more #sns #snsdesignthinkers #snsinstution #snscollegeofphysiotherapy

Ready for some answers? 🤩 👁️ 🔍 When a a patient reports a sudden vision loss in one eye, experiencing bleeding in the eye and making it difficult to see their retina, the Doctor would use... d) An Ultrasound! 🩺 The doctor will likely request an ultrasound to diagnose the cause of sudden vision loss and bleeding in the eye. An ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of structures inside the body. In this case, the doctor would specifically request a B-scan ultrasound, which focuses on imaging the posterior segment of the eye, including the retina. This allows for a detailed examination of any abnormalities or damage to the retina that may cause the patient's symptoms 👏 Want to learn more about becoming a Doctor? Then make sure you come and join us at our next Get Into Medicine conference! 🤩 These confeences are built to give you the full rundown of how to apply to medicine, including your application journey, the entrance exams and additional resources you'll need to stand out among other applicants!
