Everyone remembered the Nilla Wafers and taco nights. Had the honor of attending a celebration of life for a 99- and 103-year-old couple who passed within a year of one another. As I didn’t know the couple well, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the service or to be as deeply moved as I was by the stories that were shared. I was struck by how much of my time I spend thinking about things that won’t make much of a difference in the impact I make during my short time here. As I think about the legacy I leave, I will look to Marg and Lloyd for the example they set. My takeaways: • What their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren remembered most was their love, the way they lived their lives, and how they treated others. • Memories were mostly about quality time spent with family (often over tacos and Nilla wafers). Traditions matter. • What they said mattered much less than what they did. How does this relate to my approach to work and life? • The relationships I build along the way are worth far more than the title or the paycheck. • The traditions we create don’t have to be Instaworthy, they just have to be real. • The moments matter. Between coworkers, friends and families. Take the time, make the connections. Everyone wins.

I have a great idea. Reduce EQT executive compensation and increase every other employee’s compensation while still saving overall payroll costs. Employee compensation is spent at local retail establishments and professional services which is awesome for our economy. Less overall compensation costs equals more earnings to send to the owners of the company via dividends. CEO Rice, it’s a great idea. You can reach out to me and I can help. Imagine the great publicity from such a move. And you are most welcome. For your edification, surrounding yourself with a bunch of yes minions will keep your share price dropping. An original idea isn’t possible in that environment. Maybe you need someone to challenge you. No maybe, your ego needs someone to challenge you. Reduce executive compensation. Pay the American worker and the shareholders. That plays in Peoria dude.
Wishing everyone a Happy Labor Day!

More than 10 years ago, I lifted a practice from Oprah that transformed my perspective: keeping a daily gratitude list of 5 items. When life is humming along, these moments of appreciation come easily. But during tough times—like navigating job loss and searching for work—finding gratitude feels like a true test. But it's precisely during the challenging times when gratitude seems elusive, that the practice proves most powerful—helping shift focus from what's broken to what's still working. My daily gratitude runs the gamut—from the magisterial (being happy to wake up another day with an easy breath) to the more earthly (finding a perfectly placed trash can during dog walks). When you're committed to noting 5 things daily, even the small stuff counts. In this season of thanks, I'm deeply grateful for the privilege of being a part of my clients' career transitions -- through their grief, their bold ambitions, their challenges, and ultimate triumphs. #Thanksgiving #Gratitude #Oprah #CareerTransformation

Today is National Goof Off Day. And no one celebrated it better than Ferris Bueller. His motto was "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop to look around once in a while you could miss it." And he most certainly lived by his words. Ferris managed to fake sick his way into his 9th day off of the year ("Nine times"); sing in a parade; impersonate Abe Froman, The Sausage King of Chicago to sneak his friends into an elite restaurant; go to a Cubs game; and convince Cameron to let the trio of friends " "borrow" his dad's 1961 Ferrari 250GT California for a day of adventures that the parking valets also enjoyed for a few hours. Ferris taught us to embrace life in the moment. Take a day off of work or school not because of a planned vacation or because you have a life event that needs attention. Take a day off to do something you've never done before. Do something fun. Do something crazy. Do something fun and crazy. And when you decide to take that day off, remember what Ferris said when Cameron asked him this about their upcoming day off: Cameron: "What are we going to do?" Ferris: "The question isn't, 'What are we going to do?'. The question is 'What aren't we going to do?" Happy National Goof Off Day! Make Ferris proud. #nationalgoofoffday #taketimeforyou #relax #fun #spontaneous #lifeadvice

(Self) Appreciation post: whew, Wintertime is tough. We are so conditioned to go, Go, GO – and I am incredibly proud of my diligence to sit in the slowness this past season. A few Winter highlights: 1. Becoming comfortable with the idea of moving slower to allow for new learnings and observations. 2. Building out a swaggy team + solid client roster @ Pea Nation! 3. Watching the brilliant film “Origin” twice in 48hrs (watching it on a flight hits very differently). Please go watch it if you have not already. 4. Taking on more speaking opportunities + embracing the value of stepping in front of the mic (I’m so trained and I prefer to stay in the shadows). 🥂Cheers to Spring + warmer weather!!

**From House Captain to House In-charge: Celebrating Every Little Win!** "Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together." From leading as the house captain in school to now being the house in-charge at KPS, my journey hasn’t been about achieving big, flashy milestones. It’s been about recognizing and appreciating the small victories that shape who I am today. Although a bit late, I really want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Bandan Preet Mahajan , our ever-energetic Academic In-charge at KPS. She’s always on the move, a true workaholic, and someone who genuinely loves pushing us toward excellence. I’ve rarely met anyone so passionate and dedicated to their profession. You know the saying, *"We create our own opportunities,"* but here’s the catch—what if someone never sees your potential or gives you that chance? I’m incredibly thankful that Ms. Mahajan is the kind of person who spots talent even when it’s hidden. Now, don’t get me wrong—there were plenty of times I thought, *"Why am I getting so much work?"* When there’s already so much on my plate, I often wonder if I can meet her high expectations! But looking back, I realize that these challenges have transformed me. I can see the changes in my personality, my work ethic, and my creativity. For some, this position may seem small, but for me, it’s a stepping stone in my journey. Every recognition, no matter how small, is a part of my success story. Even something as simple as coloring within the lines teaches us something valuable, right? So, a big thank you, ma’am, for trusting me with this role. I’ve learned so much under your guidance and can’t wait to keep growing. *"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,"* and I’m grateful for each one of them!
