OBS 2022 My time at Outward Bound Singapore was a transformative experience that significantly impacted my personal growth and team-building skills. The program offered a unique blend of physical challenges, teamwork, and self-discovery in a supportive and adventurous environment. Upon arrival, we were introduced to the rigorous yet exciting itinerary that included activities such as high ropes courses, kayaking, and hiking. These challenges were designed to push our limits and encourage us to step out of our comfort zones. The physical exertion and mental challenges tested our resilience and adaptability, fostering a sense of accomplishment and confidence. A significant aspect of the program was the emphasis on teamwork. We were grouped into teams and faced various tasks that required collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. Through activities like group expeditions and team-building exercises, I learned the importance of trust and cooperation. It was fascinating to see how diverse individuals came together, leveraging each other’s strengths to overcome obstacles and achieve common goals. The experience also included reflective sessions where we discussed our personal growth, challenges faced, and lessons learned. These moments of introspection were valuable for understanding my strengths and areas for improvement. They provided insight into how I interact with others and how I can apply these lessons to future endeavors. One of the most memorable moments was the sense of camaraderie that developed within our group. The shared experiences and collective achievements created lasting bonds and friendships. The supportive environment encouraged us to push our limits while knowing we had each other’s backs.

Here's the summary: ✨ The insight that I can get from this class is that every person can have an impact for their company. How we act, how we look, and how we say can influence the company's image. Therefore, it is important to be careful in what we act and what we say, both on social media and in real life. 👩🏻💻 Case Studies: we are divided into several groups to carry out a real project in Telkom Indonesia. The informal nature of our job makes the staff feel they do not need to be professional and disciplined. The hospitality industry is seen as the place where those who couldn’t crack it in other industries come to work or better yet those who aren’t academically inclined choose. This negative view has made it very difficult to draw talent into the industry. No one wants to be labelled as ‘unacademic’ in Malaysia today. Has anything changed in view of peoples’ perception about the industry? The above myth can therefore (if it has not yet), become an albatross around the necks of many people entering or in the industry! Once they gain their aspired ‘higher education’, they move out of the industry. Sometimes, once some of them get a job in the civil service, they will move out even faster!
