The EU established the 'polluter pays' principle through Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme, specifically tailored for textiles sold in the EU27 market. The eco-design requirements and methodologies will determine your product's eco-design score, which in turn will count towards your EPR contribution. In today’s EU Textile Strategy 2030 and Its Business Impact Masterclass Part II: Textile Product End-of-life Management, the topics covered include: - EU Circular Economy Action Plan and Textiles Strategy - Advancements in Textile Waste Management Legislation - Implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Scheme - Next Steps for Legislation Implementation Don’t miss the interview with our special guest rom the European Commission, Unit B3 for “From Waste to Resources” (DG ENV). Certainly a highlight of our Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles Association (SMART) annual convention is always the presntation by Jessica Franken on goveronment policies and direction as it relates to our trade. This presentation followed a good presentation by Marisa Adler on #epr. So important that we as an industry understand and participate in the conversation of the future of circularity and textile industry, both nationally and globally. #circularfashion #sustainablefashion #fashion
Delighted to have had the opportunity to speak at the Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles Association (SMART) annual meeting in Antigua, Guatemala, discussing pivotal policy topics impacting the industry. From the imminent California EPR legislation for textiles to broader discussions on circularity and international trade, I'm honored to collaborate with SMART members whose dedication is crucial for advancing EPR and textile circularity. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such meaningful dialogues after years of fruitful collaboration. #CircularEconomy #TextileRecycling #EPR

EU regulation changes are aiming to a market full of more sustainable products. 📝 On the 18th of July, steps were taken for the introduction of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). This is an expansion on the Ecodesign Directive by broadening its reach to a wider range of products, while also enforcing stricter ecodesign standards in manufacturing. 2️⃣ Things to take note of: 1. The ESPR is specific and requirements will vary depending on the product category. 2. Businesses selling products in the EU will need to comply with the ESPR to avoid penalties. #sustainability #espr #ecodesign #europeanunion #circulareconomy #greenproducts #futureofbusiness source: 👇 linked in the comments

Will your products or purchases require a Digital Product Passport (DPP) as a result of proposed EU legislation: Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation? DPPs are expected to be mandated between 2026-30 in the 27 EU member states. They are required for all products sold in the EU regardless of where they are produced. Products with a high environmental impact will be prioritized such as: textiles, furniture, chemicals, batteries, consumer electronics, electronic devices, construction products. The DPP is designed to meet the growing demand for transparency from stakeholders, with standardised information about a product's lifecycle, from origin to disposal, replacing current Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC. #sustainableprocurement #publicprocurement #ecolabel #EU

We use #chemicals every day, from plastic packaging to cleaning spray to food additives. But what happens to all of those chemicals when they're done being used? That was the question that inspired my latest paper, "Mapping the end-of-life of chemicals for circular economy opportunities", just published open-access in a special circular economy issue of Royal Society of Chemistry's RSC Sustainability. Check it out to learn why only 10% of the chemicals produced in the U.S. each year are recycled, and how we can increase that number to help mitigate climate change and human health impacts. https://lnkd.in/gP448S8N
