You looking for work anytime soon?
Got an offer for you.
I see a lot of excellent job postings in production and post-production on here. And I share what I can.
But I want to be able to flag them to suitable people in my network. With 2,500+ connections, though, I lose track.
Especially for freelance projects.
I've been meaning to start a spreadsheet for the people I know and their different roles, locations etc. But I never have time. Certainly not to dig out everyone's details.
So, if this sounds good and you want me to flag you if I see suitable work for you, add a comment with:
- the job role you're after
- where you're based
- whether you're looking for freelance or permanent work
- add a specialism if you have one, eg commercials, social, natural history
I'll get your name from your profile.
Please be as succinct as possible. Treat these as keywords in a search, because that's how I'll be adding and using them.
Multiple job titles is fine, provided they’re jobs you could reasonably and realistically apply for.
eg Post Producer / Technical Manager / Head of Production, Manchester, Permanent
eg Camera Operator / Cinematographer, Brighton / South East, Freelance
Being vague isn't helpful and I won't include it.
eg Anything in post, UK.
If you have less than 2 years experience doing the job, add Junior to the job title.
eg if you're straight out of college and calling yourself a DOP, that's lovely for you and all, but it's not the same as someone who's been in doing it for a decade.
Employers won't be fooled, they'll ignore your application and it’s a waste of everyone’s time. It's far better to be honest, believe me.
The vast majority of my network is in the UK, and I can only track so much (I get FLOODED with requests otherwise), so this is ONLY an offer for UK people unless we’re already mates here (soz).
It's also not for remote jobs, even if the job can be done remotely (big soz). It becomes a whole can of worms and I rarely see remote or VFX type jobs anyway.
If you don't follow this format, or these fairly simple guidelines, or couldn't be arsed to read this far to see them, I won't include you.
Think of it as a simple test to sift out people who can't follow basic instructions or have short attention spans (you'd be amazed).
(AMAZED).
('Looking for experienced dailies ops near London.'
'I'm 2nd year at college in Tennessee, interested.')
Please do share, and I'll repost this occasionally.
You can also DM me if you don’t fancy scribbling it publicly.
Edit - It may take me a while (at this rate), but promise I’ll get back to you eventually.
Edit 2 - From experience, it's hard to tag you if you don't have an open profile and we're not connected, or if your surname's not in your profile name. Eg. Charles M. - I get why you might do it, but I probably can't tag you.
Hopefully I can put some work your way.
Cheers,
Mike
