Agile methodologies have transformed the software industry by promoting flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness to change. These principles, rooted in the Agile Manifesto’s emphasis on “responding to change over following a plan,” have enabled software teams to thrive in environments characterized by rapidly evolving requirements and market demands. However, applying these principles to hardware development, where physical constraints and excessive costs are significant factors, requires thoughtful adaptation as to avoid the pitfalls of hastily applying frameworks not yet compatible with current business processes. 🚀 Adapting Agility to Hardware Development 🛠️ In today's fast-evolving world, hardware development needs to stay flexible—just like software. My latest article explores how Agile principles, often associated with software development, can be applied to hardware. ✅ Key insights from the article: - Modular & Set-Based Design: Improve flexibility and reduce risks by allowing design options to stay open longer. - Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Break down silos between hardware, software, and firmware, manufacturing teams to create aligned, high-quality products. - Iterative Development: Focus on incremental gains, whether that's validation of knowledge or physical design. Agile in hardware development requires a mindset shift—but the results are worth it! #AgileDevelopment #HardwareEngineering #ProductDesign #Innovation #ModularDesign #SetBasedDesign

We've recently published a series of blog posts on Agile Hardware Transformation written by one of our Principal Consultants, Marika Zep. In this series, Marika, with assistance from Averil Franklin Stewart and Lars Brodén, takes a look at the following three topics: • Responding to change over following a plan Introduces the general concept of agility into hardware, and helps to allay any fears sceptics might have in thinking agility can't be made to work with physical products. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e-nuSR_c •Where to begin with agile transformation in hardware Discusses how to start with the change itself as well as the things you have to both do and look for when beginning your transformation into agility. These are the principles behind the Agile Manifesto: 1. Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of valuable software. 2. Welcome changing requirements, even late in development. Agile processes harness change for the customer's competitive advantage. 3. Deliver working software frequently, from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, with a preference to the shorter timescale. 4. Business people and developers must work together daily throughout the project. 5. Build projects around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done. There's more: https://lnkd.in/eVZ9ZSys
