Another fantastic panel on #criticalminerals at the The Northern Miner Precious Metals Summit Conferences, LLC #Energy Transition Metals Summit in DC. Great insights from Abigail Hunter, Alex Jacquez, and Joseph S. on the efforts the US government and particularly the United States Department of Defense are taking to address this challenge. These efforts could be advanced by supporting promising projects by Moana Minerals Ltd , Ocean Minerals LLC, Cordoba Minerals Corp., Chilean Cobalt Corp ("C3") and EVelution Energy. Development and processing of #cobalt, #nickel, #manganese, #copper, and #rareearthelements will be crucial to ensuring US #nationalsecurity and economic competitiveness. OD6 Metals has released an investor presentation to be delivered by Managing Director Brett Hazelden at the company's AGM today. The presentation describes the exploration opportunity available at the newly acquired #GulfCreek Copper Project in NSW, which was home to one of Australia's highest grade historical copper mines which operated between 1896-1912 and has seen little exploration activity since. The presentation also covers the work completed over the year at the #SplinterRock REE Project - Australia's largest and highest grade clay-hosted rare earths project. Golden Deeps Ltd (ASX:GED) CEO Jon Dugdale joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully live from the International Mining and Resources Conference - IMARC 2024 at the ICC Sydney at their exclusive podcast zone known as OnAir @ IMARC, sponsored by EMR Capital. Golden Deeps is an explorer and developer targeting high-potential mineral terranes across two globally significant regions: the Lachlan Fold Belt copper-gold province in New South Wales, Australia, and the Otavi Mountain Land (Otavi) copper-lead-zinc and vanadium district in Namibia. In NSW, GED’s exploration programs are testing multiple copper, gold and silver targets within the Rockley-Gulgong Volcanic Belt near Mudgee. This belt, the easternmost of four major volcanic belts in the region, remains underexplored, despite hosting several major copper-gold deposits. In Namibia, GED holds high-grade critical metal deposits, including vanadium and copper alongside lead, zinc... Watch at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors http://ow.ly/Z0M3105NAjf

Lunnon Metals Ltd (ASX:LM8, OTC:LNMLF) managing director Ed Ainscough provides Proactive’s Jonathan Jackson with an update on the Long South Gap exploration program at the Silver Lake-Fisher (SLF) Project in the Kambalda #nickel district. The Long South Gap, an underexplored 5.8-square-kilometre area, lies adjacent to the historical Silver Lake mine and the Kambalda Dome. Processing and analysis of 3D seismic survey data collected in late 2023 by Southern Geoscience Consultants Pty Ltd (SGC) revealed a previously unrecognised channel feature potentially rich in nickel. This channel is approximately 1-kilometre long, 100-150 metres wide, starting at 670 metres below the surface and plunges at a 40° angle. It is halfway between Wyloo’s McLeay channel and Lunnon’s Silver Lake channels, offset 700 metres from McLeay channel due to the Alpha Island fault. China’s recent advances in deep-sea mining could eventually heighten tensions in the East and South China seas. In May, a subsidiary of China’s shipbuilding behemoth China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) won a National Labor Pioneer award for successfully testing a polymetallic sulfide extraction vehicle and Shanghai Jiaotong University tested its own extraction vehicle later in the month. These advances are occurring after a February article from Qiushi – an influential CCP publication – described polymetallic sulfides as “the most likely target for commercial extraction.” https://lnkd.in/gqwQGC_P https://lnkd.in/gufFXsEW https://lnkd.in/gti-EM9D Additional technological advances could facilitate polymetallic sulfide extraction in the resource-rich Okinawa Trough, which lies right along the edge of China’s EEZ claims in the East China Sea. While China is active at the International Seabed Authority – the UN body tasked with administering mineral resources in international waters – Beijing would likely prefer extracting mineral resources in its “blue territory (lanse guotu, 蓝色国土).” If China can solidify its claims on 1,158,306 square miles of EEZ (more than three times its official EEZ), it would provide more options for extracting deep-sea minerals. https://lnkd.in/gD3jpNV2 For more background on China’s deep-sea mining industry, including CSSC and Shanghai Jiaotong University, and an analysis of how deep-sea mining will increase the importance of EEZs around the world, please refer to our March report. https://lnkd.in/eneZJnJu

A new partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Argonne National Laboratory and local miner Talon Metals Corp. is looking to extract iron from nickel mine tailings in a bid to increase domestic battery production. Speaking with Mining Magazine, Albert Lipson, group leader, separations and bioprocessing at Argonne said: "Talon is trying to set up a nickel mine in the US. And what they find is that they have alot of iron [waste] that they can use in LFPs, which contain iron and need a high purity source of iron. Essentially, the goal of the project is to figure out how to get that iron instead of it being waste."
