Finally getting around to engaging this book, and quickly finding much that resonates, and inspires: "From where I stand, the protests, the friction, and the institional infighting over how best to fulfill our mission and protect our communities are not signs of sickness. They are signs we are trying." I like this emphasis on *trying* since it allows for times when we will fail but keeps us focussed on the *why* of a university's #mission: "We try to have communities where we are not combatants but colleagues. And although the range of our identities, viewpoints, and educational goals are as wide as the world, our shared identity...as people who try to understand things better" unites our communities and can serve as a "model for life." #universities #highered #civics #dialogue #inclusion
